raced with TL type s

yesterday, when i was driving on highway, a last generation TL type s cut me in the lane. i got really pissed off. so i hit the gas very hard for the first time since i got the car (it's a a brand new, only has little bit over 1000km, i believe now it's passed the break-in period) i tried to pass the car, but the TL also hit the gas hard to prevent me to cut in front of him. that time, i realized i could not make the cut. so i chose another way and went around the other lane and cut him back. i just realized that, our car has potential to race a TL type s with good skill of course. so the car, try to come back, but i never let him go in front of me . and i guess he just gave up.

TL-S has 260HP, I'm not sure how we could keep up at all. I believe all TL-S were auto and 300lb heavier so that may help, but I wouldn't bet on a TSX winning.

We prob couldnt win, at least not stock for stock, but a good driver could prob hold his own for a little bit... Esp in a 6MT TSX vs a 5AT TL-S

In any case, I don't believe it would be able to keep up with a TL-S. Maybe if you were autocrossing, but on a straight line on a highway and changing lanes once in awhile...no way.

I used to have a 03 TL Type S, and it's pretty slow of the line, so the TSX has the advantage there. Plus the TL's manual mode automatically shifts from 1st to 2nd for you so you can't get a great push.

But this guy said he was on the highway....

TSX power-to-weight ratio = 0.0606
TLS power-to-weight ratio = 0.0722

Maybe the guy in the TL wasn't trying very hard.

the guy in the tl wasn't driving hard.

tl-s run ~14.7 stock in the quarter mile, about a 1 second quicker than a 6MT TSX.

and on the highway?!?! forget about it - that v6 would eat us 4 bangers all day long.

plus you really shouldn't be cutting people off, that's real dangerous stuff, not to mention reckless and illegal.

keep the streets clean or face the trout.

I bet he wasn't trying. In a open highway, if you were next to each other in seperate lanes, he would be able to take you. The only reason he probably couldn't pass you was traffic and/or he calmed down and figured it wasn't worth it.

oh you bunch of knobs, the guy did something in the day and decided to share it with you. i could see from the start all of this talking about safety and him being stupid for trying what he did. maybe he was, but i prolly did things twice as bad today.
thanks for sharing the useless story, provided entertainment for a minute

Hell Yeah it was worth the hassle, Give the guy a break, saw the opertunity, decided to see what the car can do, and was suprised to see how it could do against a TL, Sure if it was a real race not just playing around he would of gotten his ass handed to him... So what... Hes Enjoying the Car as you said.... Hell Id race a TL, Id like to see how long the TSX could keep up, Hell I Have Raced a Ferarri, I meen why the fuck not,

Give the kid a break.... Wow you know what its not Safe, But if he crashes his car, hell be Safe Because its a TSX, The TSX market ownership seems to be divided into two catagorys buch of :killer:'s Who brought it for the Luxury Value, and Some of the younger group, who saw it as a great tunable, Comfortible Sport Sedan...

if your not one of the second good for u, if im not talking Ripping on a Thread about taking the TSX to the golf club every other weekend, So dont come in here and Rip on a racing thread, Grammer Prob sucks Cause I just woke up... But theres my Rant

EDIT: Damn past the 5 minutes, just first off I Have been up since 5, just took a nap between Crew Practice, I gotta go to class in a minute, and wanted to conclude w/

I know the TSX isnt much of a tuner car, but its still fun

A Recent Honda Commercial Has The AEM Drag Civic Racing, and Stephan Papadakis says "Some people say when your life flashes infront of your eyes, it Takes 10 Seconds, For me It takes less then 7"
Personally, Its gonna take a little longer for now... No Reason not to enjoy it

Well, we have to take the initiative to discourage these type of "races" on the highway. I'm sorry that I may seem like an old hag, but I don't want to F my car up or even F my existense in this world because 2 idiots are racing each other, weaving in and out of traffic on the highway just to "see" how their car performs. Keep that on the track.

btw. I rowed crew in college. Don't you just love early morning wake ups and double...triple sessions, LOL. What crew team are you on? And I assume you're on the lightweight boat? I miss rowing so give me details. I might actually some day join a club team here in Boston...we've got the Charles River here

we could take a type s on the highway. one of my biggest pet peeves about the TL i has was that 4th gear is over drive. at about 90 MPH the TL goes into 4th gear and it lost a lot of power on the highway. the TSX seems to just keep going in thoes last 3 gears.

IMO, the TSX has a better interior than the "2nd" gen TL/TL-S (which I own). But don't go around saying that a TSX can keep up with a TL, let alone a TL-S. That's like a ricer saying "My VTEC p0wns j00!"
