Raced an M3
Wow, I just raced an M3 and I was suprised how much I kept up... He had me the whole time, but never really pulled away that much. I had the AC off/ VSA off and it was like 50 degrees out.

I remember racing along once with a GT3. Actually, I was trying to coax him in showing what he had: I didn't have a show for a very long time, because the guy just left me behind like I was stopped.
If it was an older auto M3 (poorly maintained) this may be possible, you may have even beat him doing a VTEC launch. 1st and 2nd I can keep up with a S2000 (before reflash) then in 3rd he starts inching away...
The new M3 would spank anything but the DazzMo. HKS TSX. Maybe even a Comptech blower would give him a run for his money...but still may be futile. Fun nonetheless, so I don't blame you for trying...

Even with a soft launch, the S2k should pull away from a TSX during the 1-2 shift; they are staying in VTEC, and we are lugging in the 4000s waiting to get up to VTEC RPM again. The 1-2 gear ratio difference in the TSX makes it bad for drag racing. In fact, it's bad for everything except 0-60 time. Damn Honda for caring more about magazine times than day-to-day driving.
I have driven my sister-in-laws 2004 M3 on several occasions and there is no way the TSX will keep up with the M3.
It's a no contest.
The M3 has a sport mode. It's amazing what a difference it makes. Without sport mode turned on the car is terrific. Turn sport mode on and the gas pedal is so more repsonsive, the clutch bite point is more aggressive - it just becomes an animal.
I still love my TSX though!

I'm telling you from my experience, who knows, it could've been because the 20 more lbs/ft or he didn't "VTEC launch". But for you to say that it didn't happen, would be very ignorant on your part (no offense) because it did! Simple as that...

Nevertheless, I call
on your story. A TSX doesn't hang with an S2K until 3rd gear. If it did, there wouldn't be one and a half second discrepancy between the two, because on top of 2nd, you're already halfway down the track, and there's no way the S2K would make a second and a half on the last portion only.

btw...S2Ks got no balls till at least 7000rpm and by that time the M3 is at the next stop light already. If you really want to keep up with a M3 just get a STi.
Orrrrrr a M3 too.

Especially considering "keeping up" is by no means "beating" anything...
Given perfect drivers in our cars and perfect conditions, the S2k would get the hole shot into a walking away... but that simply wasn't the case.

The fact is that a TSX will NOT hang in with an S2K (given equal drivers), EVEN LESS with an M3!!!

Lighten up man... I wouldn't post BS stories/comments. BTW, older M3's were as slow as 5.6-5.8 0-60mph. An S2k be be all over that... "Given equal drivers" lol
He probably didn't try that hard to race you
One time I passed a new blue (similar to my arctic blue pearl) M3 on the freeway because I was behind him and the lane was slow, but I changed lane pretty quickly and I jammed on the gas right afterwards. He probably thought I was trying to race him, so he chase me tried to pass me and he was easily going 100mph+. I exited the freeway right away knowing I got my ass handed to me on a plate

If this was an e46 m3 there is no chance of a tsx keeping up with it. My mom has an e46 m3 and if she was actually trying to race my tsx she would be gone she would be so far ahead that I probably would not even see her car anymore
M3 6spd=stock engine and stock exhaust
TSX 6spd=injen cold air intake, dc sports header, dc sports exhaust

Please hear me when I say this "It wasn't a close race, BUT I was suprised that he didn;t blow me out of the water, I expected him to beat me brutally! He beat me by a lot, but not as much as I expected... I am never posting anything like this again, it attracts haters. (JUST CLOSE THE THREAD)
