New 06 A4
New 06 A4
thought i would share what happened last night
I was coming home around midnight when I see a new a4 at a red. I slowed down but the light turned green. I passed him and at 3rd gear going 25 when i hear him punch it. I down it to 2nd as soon as his next to me and go all the way to 2nd red line. I had him about a bumper b4 he exited out. My car is totally stock 05 6spd. My first run with this car, happy it turned out way it did

From a roll, the A4 looses a lot of the advantage because of the turbo needing time to spool. Even if that time is measured in tenths of a second, it can be a big difference in such a short distance.

The SMG M3's even admit that the 6-MT's are quicker than them from a standstill due to the ability to rev+dump the clutch.

From everything I've read, yes. But I don't know for certain.
wow didnt realize that the new a4's were capable of mid 6 to 60. speed limit was 45 and i didnt want to go too much higher so i stoped at 2nd redline. He made a immediate right as soon as he saw me brake, I'm guessing he didnt like the results. I wanted to ask him if it was manual or DSG

Three pedal cars will have faster 60' times until a manufacturer is brave enough to let a full on LC come to the drag capital of the world, though it won't happen due to warranty issues, easy to deny a clutch replacement on a 3 pedal car, harder when you just use a feature of the car.
The DSG is a truly sweet piece of kit. My wife's A3 has one.
But no A4s have them. So the A4 that HoOnzABPTSX encountered was likely a slushbox. It might have even been a front wheel drive CVT.
And no 2.0T A4 is anywhere in the 6s. This from Audi's site about the 2.0T models:
0-60 mph in seconds: 7.1 (FrontTrak manual models), 7.3 (multitronic CVT with FrontTrak and 6-speed manual with quattro), 7.5 (6-speed Tiptronic with quattro)
Top track speed: 130 mph*
EPA fuel economy estimates (city/highway)*:
multitronic: 24/32
manual, FrontTrak: 23/34
manual, quattro: 22/31
Tiptronic: 22/30
The 3.2 A4s are a different story, perhaps that's what dom is thinking of.

DSG's/SMG's can be quicker than MTs.
BMWs SMG doesn't really compare to Audi's DSG - it's a marvel really. No manufacturer has gotten anywhere near the refinement in a semi-manual as Audi/VW has.
Specs for A3 2.0T:
0-60 mph in seconds: 6.7 (DSG); 6.9 (6-speed manual)
Top track speed: 130 mph*
EPA fuel economy estimates (city/highway)*:
DSG: 25/31
manual: 24/32
