Me vs. C5 Corvette
While on my way to work this morning, I noticed a very impatient, blue convertable C5 in my rearvew mirror. As he quickly ran into some congestion that slowed him down, I found an opening in the fast lane and decided to punch it from 6th to 5th.
Big mistake.
5th gear bogged as I didn't even land close to the sweet stop of 5-6k RPM. I had to drop to 4th. Finally -- 6500 RPM on the big cam and I started to pull away from the pack with the mean VTEC growl from my intake / Hondata. At 7100 RPM, I upshifted to 5th and could see the Corvette taking notice. I finally had the nerve to look down at my speedometer and found myself doing 120 MPH with the Vette gaining. For a brief moment, I saw him pull to the side of my TSX as both of us were at WOT. The Vette pulled away as I had expected. I decided to shut it down as I never intended to go THAT fast.
Since I didn't see the C5 completely blow past me, I'm assuming it was their 4 speed automatic. While still impressive on paper with 345 HP / 350 TQ, the 6MT vette is much faster.
That was enough fun for the year. I haven't gone that fast in probaly 2-3 years. On another note, I noticed that the road noise is VERY loud at speeds over 100 MPH, similar to my Integra. It became a reminder that I wasn't driving a 45k RL or 5-series BMW.

what freeway was that on? I'm guessing 605 North? I was able to attain 90+ mph daily on my old commute. 120 is absolutely doable there.
Nice run.

I'm going to check my oil level at lunch today. My car felt a bit sluggish. I would have only lost by 10 cars instead of 11.

Its interesting in that the Roman symbol for 100 is "C" and you tangled with a C5 which could be interperted as 100 x 5 which is exactly your postcount.
