Porsche's are more for handiling corners, ect not drag racing, My dad brought one as his midlife crisis....and trust me that thing can corner...my basic rule of thumb is on turns where I brake in the TSX, give it gas in the porsh...

to drag race against a hopped up mini isnt what people buy porsches for

Now if u wanna see some real ownage, against a some fast cars by a hopped up ride:

Porsches are nice and fun to drive. And if those aren't reasons to buy it, girls love them and they'll definately attract more attention than most cars out there. Thus they are exotic.

The only Porsche I don't like is the Boxter. Again, many cars offer more than that for less. You're just paying for the name. Plus chicks don't dig the boxter

The Boxster really feels like a poseur car, but that may just be because every Boxster owner I've met so far has been a poseur.

The evening I went and tested my TSX at Napierville, Qc., there was a GT2 there doing runs and merrily doing high 11's. What's worst is the guy was smooth-launching it.

As long as Porsche still makes the 911 Turbo, I like them. And I'd like them even more if they brought back the 944/968.

I'm a loyalist, I guess. My first car (and the car I grew up in as a child) was a Porsche 914-4 1.7.

Porsche's as of late have been mid-late life guy cars. They just aren't as raw as they were.

The money and performance end up about the same, so I'd rather have a Ferrari F360 than a Porsche 911S...unless it was my commuter car.

Porsche's are still cool, but I keep seeing these old men driving slow in them. What's the point then?

Eddie Bello Busted as Part of Luxury Car Theft Ring
3/28/2001

NEW YORK - WCBS - This report found on www.cbsnewyork.com - There won't be any more laps around the track for a well-known drag racer from the Bronx, who was among three body shop owners arrested in connection with the theft of luxury cars from Westchester, WCBS 880's Marla Diamond reports.

Eddie Bello, 35, who has won fame with souped-up Porsches on the import drag-racing circuit, was arraigned Saturday in Mount Vernon on a charge of illegal possession of a vehicle identification number, District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said.

Bello, known as the East Coast Assassin in drag racing circles, owns Bellotech Performance on McQuesten Parkway in Mount Vernon, where he works on his racer and other cars. The owners of two neighboring shops also were charged with the same felony: Robert Benedettini, 42, of Yonkers, owner of Star Auto Body, and Anton Shkreli, 33, of the Bronx, owner of Evropa Motors.

Pirro said investigators at Bello's shop seized two Porsche engines and two Porsche transmissions, all with defaced identification numbers. At Evropa, they took two Porsches with defaced identification numbers, plus a Mecedes Benz engine and five air bags, similarly defaced, she said. They also found an illegal 9 mm handgun, the district attorney said. And at Star Auto Body, they seized a partially dismantled and defaced Lexus sports utility vehicle and a small amount of the drug Ecstasy, she said.

Pirro said the arrests stemmed from the investigation of a stolen-car ring that had specialized in swiping luxury vehicles from Westchester driveways and parking lots and shipping them to Asia. Eight men were arrested last month.

Illegal possession of a vehicle identification number is punishable by up to four years in prison. More charges could be filed, says Pirro, if the men were shipping auto parts internationally.

Last year, Today's NHRA magazine, which covers the National Hot Rod Association, said Bello, driving a white Porsche 911, had reached 161 mph while covering a quarter-mile in 9.17 seconds.

Dumbass.

Stock form I agree, but both of them modded I'd take the GTR. There's a reason why there's lots of 1000+HP Skylines overseas, the RB26DETT can take more of a beating.

Although I would still take the GTR over the Porsche even in stock form. So much modding I could do to that vehicle.

If you guys are going to change the subject . . . then I'll mop both of them up with a 427 Vette.

I'm assuming your talking about the Lingenfelter TT 427 Corvette right? If so the most powerful one is 802HP. That power level is about average for highly modded Skylines.

That would work too! Besides . . you can't compare HP and say they're equal. If so there'd be no need to prove it at the track.

Also, the only official Skyline result I've seen posted are as follows, and of course the 427TT cleans up.

http://www.exoticcarsite.com/pages/n...ne_r34_gtr.htm
Horsepower: 276 bhp @ 6800 rpm
Torque: 289 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm
0-60 mph: 5.1 sec
0-100 mph: 13.0 sec
Quarter Mile: 13.7 sec @ 105 mph
Skidpad: .89g
Top Speed: 155 mph

http://www.fast-autos.net/lingenfelt...lter427tt.html
Horsepower: 802 bhp @ 4600 rpm
Torque: 866 lb-ft @ 3600 rpm
0-60 mph: 1.97 sec
0-100 mph: 4.33 sec
Quarter Mile: 8.95 sec @ 153 mph
Skidpad: 1.01g
Top Speed: est 240 mph

Of course . . . if you want to compare some other non-name brand versions . . . 1000HP Skylines are still lagging the 1500HP+ Blown Vettes I used to see running at the track. You just can't keep up with cubic inches in the end. That said . . Skylines are no weak sister either. As I did find this modified version.

http://www.supercars.net/cars/1999@$Nissan%20Blitz@$Skyline%20GT-R%20R348x.html

It's rated at 850HP - no 1/4 mile times, but 0-60 is 3 secs, so that shows that HP is not a good metric to compare how cars compare in the 1/4. Often a good indicator . . . but not a certainty as this Skyline has more HP than the 427TT, but is slower to 60 by over a full second.

There's always something faster coming out all the time . . . that's what makes this so interesting.

Skylines are a Gran Turismo player's dream. Other than that, I think they're pretty overrated.

IMO - Porsche engines sound like a bucket of bolts, especially the old air cooled ones....not sexy like a screaming Ferrari - or even an NSX.

I like the old joke: What's the difference between a Porsche driver and a Porcupine?

Answer: On a Porcupine, the pricks are on the outside!

That 850HP Skyline's 0-60 run in 3s is most likely unofficial. Here are what some modded Skylines do at the drag strip:

http://www.exvitermini.com/records.htm

They dominate in the 4WD class and most of them are still using the same 2.6L block, while those lingenfelter Vette's use completely different blocks that are custom C5R 7.0L blocks.

An auto tranny is ideal for the drag strip when you have lots of power to run consistent ET's.
