Beat by a Titan

Well on Thursaday a guy at work was talking trash all day long about how his truck would blow the doors off my Acura and Acuras are garbage and they are just rebadged Hondas so i had enough and all right lets race.

Well in my mind i figured how fast can this truck really be, i mean he has big chrome wheels on it, i mean i know that the TSX ain't fast but come on a truck! i though this would be a victory.

well we lined up, at my job we have 1/2 mile long road that we block off to race, and from a dead stop we pulled off, and he got about a car length ahead of me from the jump and i never could catch up, man was i mad, i wanted to beat this fool bad... so we were on the highway and rolling from about 50 we took off and he blew me away again.

I got so fed up with the poor performance of the Acura i went the next day and traded it for a Infiniti M45 =)

This has to be one of the fastest 4 door sedans i have ever driven, we will see on Monday if the Titan can hang!!!

Revenge will be mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol..that is hilarious.. the Titan is pretty quick for a truck, I would beat it but it's tough for a TSX. I got caught off guard by an Armada once that won't happen again
The M45 is real nice but it's real heavy like him but you should take him. The interior on the M is prestine I love it

345hp? That means even if the Titan weighed 4800lbs, the TSX would still lose.

Let me get this straight -- you dropped over 50k on a family sedan just to beat a Titan truck?

This has the odor of something either really dumb or

P.S. The TSX is not the car to go drag racing in, period.

i think when you bought the tsx you overestimated its abilities. its not meant to be raced even though it has been made into a touring car. its a entry level sport luxury sedan. key word entry level. a good friend of mine has a titan and yeah i know its faster but i also know that i get 28 mpg and he gets about half that.

i know the size of my wang and i dont need to be have my car be faster than someone elses to prove anything. my roomate has a g35c and all my friends like my car better. his is faster. woopee. i like my tsx for everything its worth.

I smell a troll...

If you do want to race a car with that much horsepower, it's hardly the TSX's fault. The TSX is faster than most cars on the road (at least the MT ), and still gets better gas milage than most. What do you want already?

I smell troll as well. He supposively has:
K&N CAI
DC Sports Headers
Custom Cat back
Hondata Heat shield
Hodata Reflash (on it's way)

Suspension
Eibach Pro-KIT
(From an old thread)

Either some Nissan / Infiniti friend got a hold of his account or his TSX is royally slow.

Although the Titan has tons of displacement and 300+ hp, it's still a mid-15's heavy ass truck. The thing is meant to tow a freakin boat -- not drag race. I smoke my co-worker's by close to TWO car lengths. Take him to the twisties and it gets even more unfair.

Then again, my setup might have something to do with it.

Either way, a STOCK TSX should be able to beat it if it's 6MT and the driver knows how to shift decently.

Sorry guys i have the Auto (my fault i guess) I think if i would have got it reflashed maybe i would have won!! Like i said he got that jump on me and i couldn't catch up! Believe me i loved my TSX to death, and hopefully in 2008 will be a TSX owner again, but i just got fed up with the lack of parts for horsepower and it has been almost 3 years of ownership and still not much more has came out since 2004 for aftermarket. sure i know it wasn't bought to drag race but you have to admit one look at the car when it is hooked up and it just screams...racer! Unfortunately Acura put that confusing DBW system and what ever else that caused really nobody to come out with a Turbo kit and that SuperCharger..well you already know how expensive that is

there are plenty of aftermarket parts to make the tsx fairly fast. and if you really did trade it in for the m45 then you must have had enough money to afford these parts. the supercharger is nowhere near the price you're paying for an upgrade in cars. i dont really get whats going on in your head...

So you would honestly go back to a TSX from an M45?

Pics of the M45 please.

I didn't get the 07 model i got the 04 model see with the new M35/45 coming out the 04 M45's are being marked down as much as $8,000 off of MSRP so i got a great deal on mine with that Q45 v-8 engine and navi it was only $25,000 with 26K miles on it

If only Honda/Acura ditched their VTEC and put Nissan's VQ engines in Acuras cars than Acuras would be Infiniti clone with nicer interiors.

Ok -- I'll bite...

Where the heck are you getting that acceleration number from? You sure you aren't getting mixed up with a Viper or something?

If my co-workers Titan does 0-60 in 5.4, then my TSX must do it in 4.8.

I can't believe that you went out to the dealer and pick up a used car just to beat your co-worker?? I really dont understand you. I thought you got the 05-06 ones.... I hope you are happy with your outdated m45. I'm sorry but that m45 is butt ugly.

Nice I like that M45 more than the new generation, its more sporty looking. My friend bought the M35x and I made him get the lip kit or else.

The previous M45 had to be designed by Nissan Japan and the current one M35/M45 has the French Renault/Nissan influence, which I think is a lot better than the old one.

Sorry, but I'm bored at work and did some digging to find out what you're packing:

The Titan isn't your problem. Buying an M45 simply to beat one is ridiculous. Like I said, a stock 6MT should be able to take it. You have too many things going against your TSX to even make it a race:
- 100 lbs of audio and video equipment (subwoofer, amps, headrest LCD's, etc)
- 18" wheels that probably weight 30 lbs each

most of all:
- 5AT

No wonder you lost. You shouldn't be racing with that setup. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. (if you still have it.)

Yeah the stickers brought me at least 50 more horsepower right??? As for the M45 it is a unique car and their ain't that many on the road and I got the 0-60 times from this review, it was for the M45:

http://www.shopping.com/xPR-__2003_I...RD-97826016900

"I dusted 2 z's and a G35 coupe just last week with it. I expected the M45 to be slower anyway but it wasn't. I hooked up my auto meter in my M45 when I got it. Just yestarday I was confident to give it a stab at 0-60 just to see. Ok here's the deal... with the VDC on and car in drive my 0-60 was 5.85 seconds BUT....I turned the VDC off and manually shifted and got 5.21 seconds...a big difference and let me tell you, its very felt even in the seat. Next time I did it I screwed up hitting the gas too hard and lit up the rear tires for a 100 feet or so."

You guys can dog me out all you want...i expected it =)

I have to say one thing, i have owned many cars, and the TSX has been the longest car i have owned and i have been on many forums and this forum is by far one of the best i have been on!!!

Good luck to all TSX owners....Sorry i couldn't hang in there!!!

Well, not really knowing - but guessing - what these Titan things are, I was wondering how fast you'd have to go to beat one, in either the curves or in a straight line. I found a Nissan Titan website that had the following:

I happened to look at the Nissan Titan listing in Wikipedia the other day and found out that my truck is already doing 14.2 seconds in the quarter mile. Its on the internet so it must be true!

That means the S/C will only give us a 0.4 sec increase.

Here is the excerpt from Wikipedia...

Performance
Brake system
Front: 12.6 in (320 mm) ventilated discs
Rear: 12.6 in. (320 mm) discs
Braking performance
70 - 0 mph: 190 ft (59 m)
60 - 0 mph: 137 ft (42 m)
Acceleration
0 - 60 mph: 6.2 s
0 - 100 mph: 15.6 s
1/4 mile: 14.2 s at 90.4 mph
Top speed: 120 mph
Lateral acceleration: 0.71 g

Personally, I'd rather be driving a TSX, and I do.
