Auto-X

DOes anyone auto-x their TSX? If so what class do you run in - Hstock or STS or perhaps something else? I think after my mods are done I am going to be in the STS but I wont be very competitive in that class with this car. I am mostly out there for fun. Just curious to see what other guys are running and how they are doing in their respective classes. I would imagine the 6mt guys in hstock might be competitive.

Well with the mods i have planned i will be in STS so thats why I am asking to see how others are doing in their respective classes.

Mods will be (just waiting for spring) coilovers/rsb/ss brake lines/brake pads/rims.

I think the coilovers/rsb/ss brake lines are what puts me into sts. My tsx is a dd so staying in H sport and gutting the interior to be quicker is not an option. I also dont have any tools here or a garage to work in. So whatever my dd setup is has to be my weekend/track setup (for the most part).

Watch your tire width. IIRC the SCCA rules have a max on that, and going over that will put you into the land of SM, where the TSX is not competitive.

I will have to look into that. I didnt see that when i skimmed over the rules the first time, but thanks for bringing that to my attention. For right now, it looks more and more like I will be running hstock for the first race of the year.

Update

AutoX'ed the TSX for the first time today. I raced bone stock in the hstock category. Course was wet beyond belief. The OEM tires really showcased their shittyness today as i spun all the way through first. No amount of feathering would help either. We all know how dismal they oem michelins are but today they were really the pinacle of crap. The crappy tires along with the one wheel drive of the TSX really made racing it a challenge if not frustrating at times today. WIth that said I did win the class with my time being faster than some of the guys in gstock. A lot of people (myself included) were suprised at how well the TSX did especially considering it was bone stock.

Cant wait to race again in better conditions and with some mods done.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the ungodly tall first gear on the auto actually came in handy for todays course. I could basically drive the entire track in 1st (super close to fuel cut in some places) only needing to shift at the final straight. I am sure if i had traction though i would have needed to shift.

I frequently AutoX the TSX... Until recently I was STS... My newest rims are 17'x 8' s which are STX class, BMW CCA cared, the regular SCCA around here lets me continue in the STS as long as im not going to nationals or anything like that

How are you stacking up in STS? Any mods to your TSX?

The last time I Auto-X'd I had my gsr with bride brix and a takata harness, sure was a different feeling in the tsx seats!!!!

Auto-X is a blast. Even with MXM4's which you nailed exactly correct - the pinnacle of crapiness.

I recommend it to anyone as a safe way to have little fun, find out what your car can do and REALLY find out how good of driver you are/can be. It's only ~$35 and you don't have to be a member.

Your classing is correct, btw. W/RSB and/or Coils you're STS. I *think* the ST classes have a max tire width of 245.

(BTW I ran my '07 TL-S (classes as STX) at a local SCCA AutoX school and two recent auto crosses. You think *you* spin the MXM4's? Try 'em with, what, 60 more HP .... ).

I'll try running more in 1st gear..

Great thread this, I've learned a lot just reading your posts. I haven't been to a tech shed yet with my A-spec, Progress RSB, but the instructor/organizer over the phone said I sounded like ST class. Taking a SCCA PDX first to match driver improvement to the vehicle upgrades. Looking forward to seeing what a TSX really can do after the cushy understeer and body roll for mom and the kids has been taken out of the configuration.
