wired burning smell!!

This weekend i installed a icelink on my 04 non-navi, and now it seems that the car is running hot. I smell an hot electrical/rubber burning smell in the cabin and it seems to be under the hood as well. The thing is, the temp gauge is normal and the car seems to be performing normally. My last oild change was 500 miles ago, and there is 60K on my car. The radio works fine, and I dont know what the deal is. Does anyone know what the cause of this could be?

Seems that the car is running hot.

How do you know if the temp seems fine?

You are definitely smelling something from engine bay and it is being pulled in through the HVAC. My guess is there may be a little oil dripped on the header when they removed the filter.

Unplug your icelink and see if the smell goes away. Where did you put the main icelink box? It's possible that one of the wires got snagged and it getting grounded out against something.

Sometimes the best answer is the easiest to find. In this case, what a RANDOM event. Glad you found it.

Not to hijack this thread but a few years ago right after I bought my 04 Durango Limited I started to get a rather nasty odor in the cabin and I took it to the dealership to have it looked at. They checked everything and were stumped just as I was. The dealership decided to order me a new HVAC evaporator along with some other components to try and solve the problem.

While waiting a few days for the parts to come in I was washing the vehicle and noticed what looked to be fur on the lower front spoiler. I got up under there and sure enough I must have hit a small rodent of some sorts and it was stuck between the radiator and transmission cooler.
