Winter noises
Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum, but I have a concern about my TSX. Today when I was coming home from work, I heard a loud grinding/ high pitched noise coming from underneath my car. After driving for about 5-10 minutes it stopped. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the weather, but it is about 5 degrees here in southern New England. I called the dealership and they told me that is is the anti-lock brakes and that I shouldn't worry about it.
Has anyone else had a problem like this one? God I hate the winter, can't wait to wash the pounds of salt off and wax my TSX.

First of all, Welcome!
Second of all, you might want to elaborate more with your problem. Were you driving on slippery roads? Did you happen to see your VSA light go on? Where underneath the car did you hear it around?
If it was the anti lock brakes, you'll probably feel your brake start pulsing and feeling really weird and perhaps there's a grinding sound going on there.
If it was VSA it could be a grinding sound also, if the vehicle feels like it's skidding. I tested it at a parking lot and it doesn't sound too nice, but from what I've read at the forums it's normal.

I have heard/ read about the grinding noise. I also had it one time after I got gas...turned the car on and drove about 20 feet (no more than 5mph) and there was the noise. It lasted no more than 2 seconds. I thought I ran over something. After reading some other posts, it was confirmed that it was something to do with the Anit-lock braking system. I'm not too sure about the details. I was more concerned about it being normal, which it seems it was. I wouldn't worry too much, although if you are experiencing the noise for 5-10 minutes, you may want to get it checked out.

Anyway, what's wrong with the "branch" theory?
I thought it was obvious.

Maybe I misunderstood what he meant.... I thought it sounded like he meant the noise began IN THE MIDDLE OF WHILE HE WAS DRIVING. That wouldn't fit this brake thing, would it?

Back to topic:

But even if you're not serious, I'm afraid people are gonna take it seriously.
Take a look back there -- I didn't mean the noise came from the middle of the car, I meant it sounded like he was implying that the noise started IN THE MIDST OF while he was driving, not when he first started up the car. And if so, it seems that wouldn't fit with what some of y'all are saying.
I'm tellin' ya -- the "branch" theory.
I still think it's almost obvious.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I've been reading posts on this forum for awhile now, and I finally decided to register. I apologize for not elaborating more, but the noise started after about 3 or 4 minutes of driving after the car had been sitting in a parking garage for about 8 hours in very cold temps. The VSA light did not come on, but the noise was so loud that people on the side of the road were turning heads!! During the 5-10 minutes, when I would come to a stop, the noise would lower and after accelerating, resume to the original noise. I agree Larchmont, it might have been a branch or something caught underneath, maybe even ice? It was just weird and I might be over reacting because I haven't heard it since.
Thanks for all the responses and I look forward to participating in the forum.

i heard a loud noise comming out under my TSX last september; it's the sound of metal not tree, the pitch is very high, definitely not tree. i don't know what was it, i drove the car to a parking lot and open the window, and it was so loud, regardless turning or not, fast or slow, braking or not, but the noise only last for 2 mintues. it happened for another 2 or 3 times, but have not heard it since Nov. i don't know what was that, but i am not worry..
