Windshield Cracked!!

The other night I was coming home from watching Be Cool and a little pebble hit my windsheild and put a 3 to 4 inch crack in it, the crack is on the passanger side of the windsheild . The funny thing is when I run my finger over the crack I cant feel it from the inside of the car or the outside, its like the glass cracked inbetween. So my question is this, can I get the crack fixed or does the whole windshied have to be replaced and how much should I expect to pay?

call your insurance company, you should only have to pay the comprehensive deductible. and if it doesn't need to be replaced, it should be free to repair.

Windshield

I know in a few states, such as Florida, the windshield can be repaired or replaced at no cost to you. Your insurance must cover it and not raise your rates. You should be able to check it out online with your insurance company. I've had a couple of repairs done to other cars I've owned. The insurance company works with a repair company to come out and do the repairs at your home or office. I guess we are lucky in that respect in Florida.

Yes......all winshield repairs or replacements in Florida are free!! There's one or two other states that are the same. I've already noticed two or three nicks in my windshield from pebbles. Anyway, to get it done you still have to call your insurance company. They work through a contracted company to come out and do the work. If it's something small they will fill the hole/crack with some sort of epoxy that is suppose to be invisible or close to it. If it's really bad they will replace the whole windshield.

I wouldn't want to repair something like this -- the windshield should be replaced. Shouldn't be too much of a safety issue unless the crack gets a lot bigger. Probably want to get it taken care of soon though.
