whining sound

I remember when I purchased my TSX last year, there was some talk on the 'net about a whining noise noticeable in the car while idle, say sitting at a red light. I am starting to notice it more and more and I turn on the radio to mask it. Is this caused by anything serious and is there fix for it that anyone knows of? Thanks

Mine doesn't do it at idle but I think at around 90km/h I hear some whining. I heard this is normal.

I've often experienced all of the above mentioned noises in my '04 TSX but I think the source was my wife. The dealer's service manager told me there is nothing they can do about it

After upgrading my deck I hear altenator noise, it seems to be generated by some sort of relay in the center console as when you turn the car off, it continues till the relay pops about 5 seconds later. Does this sound right?

Yes, I should have been more specific. Let me try. It is not very loud(thanks goodness). It sounds like a small electric motor somewhere near the Steering wheel and panels.

Thanks. I haven't modified anything but I'll try and see if continues after I turn the car off.

The shrill sound is coming from the engine - may be it is normal but I hear it (not all the time but most of the time) in the car. Pitch changes with accel/decel and cuts off as soon as I turn engine off

Yes, I have had it and really don't give a flying fuck anymore.

Just adding on the miles to justify my next purchase.

I think I finally know what you're talking about. However I only hear it whenever I step on the accelerator. I think its more of a soft high pitch noise. I hope its what you're talking about. I took it to the dealer and they said that its normal... although they can't tell me what produces tha noise. Hope this helps.
