Whining Noise In Reverse (Video Enclosed)
Whining Noise In Reverse (Video Enclosed)
2006 Automatic TSX
Anyone have an idea what the cause of this noise is (only in reverse). It's coming from the rear of the car. Also I have a noise that sounds like metal scraping across a chalkboard at set intervals when I I'm driving forward.

The video is set as private, so we can't see it.
I would check the rear brake pads. They are likely worn down to the metal tab that is supposed to make noises to let you know it is time to replace the brake pads.

ok I changed the youtube settings... I think it's fixed now. The sound is pretty pronounced in the video

Yep it was the pads... they were worn enough where the brake shims were rubbing against the rotor. I've replaced them and everything is good now.
On a separate topic, when putting in the new pads, how do you get the rear piston slits to line up with the "bumps" on the back of the pads? Is there some trick? It's hard to see and it's a pain in the ass
