Wheel Scratch

I've got a small scratch in one of the spokes on my wheel. Not quite a gash, but reminiscent of someone taking a pen knife and dragging it across the front of the spoke. It has some depth- it's obvious it's penetrated the clear and powder coat. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else has gotten a deep scratch on their rim and has fixed it?

I had success at some local wheel repair places but that required some metal work and a repaint of the wheel. However, the repair looked fantastic and was less than $100. That is still less than a new one from the dealer but if you look around long enought you might find a single one for sale.

thanks for the tip gsclifton. Even though the scratch on my wheel bothers me, I don't think it bothers me enough to drop $100 on a new powdercoat job. I was thinking more along the lines of some touch up paint for wheels- yeah, I know...

I absolutely mangled my rear wheel on a curb a few months back. Sounds as if you're a bit better off. I've got a grotesque, 3 inch wound that would be more at home on some old lady's Buick. Honestly though, when I hit the curb, the sound alone had me imagining something WAY worse. In a way, I felt lucky to still have my wheel. I was sure it was going to need replacing. That would have really bothered me.

Don't bother wasting cash on a hairline scar. Only you can see it.

Well, I now have a nice, little 2 inch scrape right on the edge of the lip of the same wheel that has the scratch (got a little too close to the curb I guess...) I sanded it down a little with some emery cloth. Again, it's not bad enough to justify taking the wheel in for a re-powder, but it bugs, you know? I thought about going to the local hobby store and seeing if I could find a paint pen that would match the grey/silver powder coat- other than that I don't have any ideas... Anyone? Oh well, I'll probably forget about it (like I did the scratch) until the next whammy comes...
