Weird turning problem.

Today, i jumped in my car to drive to work, and pulled out of my complex. Since I wanted to go to the far left lane, i pulled immediately into the middle lane. But when i turned to straighten up, the car did not respond to the steering wheel, and it made a creaking moan like sound and kind of jumped. then afterwards, i straightened up and the wheel snaped straight. i checked my tire pressure, but that looks good so far. What could be the problem???

Check to see if you have enough PS fluid. I had the same happen to my 87 BMW 325i, but then again, the fluid had never been changed in it.

Do you live in a very cold climate area as well?
