I'm starting to get a weird sound from my car that is difficult to describe. It seems to only happen when I am waiting at a stop light or drive through so it doesn't seem to be related to a dynamic component like a clutch or wheel bearing. It sounds similar to a high pitched honk if that makes any sense and always lasts for about a second and then disppears. It appears to come from forward of the dash but that's about all I can say since it is a random sound that I can't reproduce on demand. The only thing I can possibly think it is would be is some sort of harmonic resonance from maybe the alternator when at idle. Anyone else with this problem or have it looked at yet?

i dont know what that is but i get it often when the A/C is on.
its like a vvaaaaaaammmm sound in kinda of a cartoonish sound right???
man i get scared when that noise pops out of nowhere.
good luck if u want to fix it cause it comes from the dashboard but huh where could it be

 

I'll have to check the correlation with the AC.

 

Same here...no idea what causes it though.
