Weird Clunk..

i'm not sure if it's anything to worry about.. but when i start my car and initially accelerate i get a clunk... after that the car runs fine... no sounds or anything.. it's a 5at and it happens like 90% of the time. ONLY when i shut off the car and turn it back on though.. any ideas?
-thanks!

I have a similar problem with my 6MT. Check out my post: "snap noise after letting go of the clutch in first gear."

It's not a problem. It's the ABS self-check.

i got the exact same "problem" on my 07' 5AT. i just noticed it this week (i've had the car for 7 weeks now).

what exactly happens during the ABS self-check that causes that noise? it only happens when you take off from a stop and its only between 1st and 2nd gear (5AT). the "clunk" noise is loud enough to hear inside the cabin with the radio on at about level 10 and a/c on.

I had a similar issue on my '06. I also had a clunk when turning the wheel at certain speeds/angles. Got it fixed today, problem was some loosely tightened suspension parts (don't remember what exactly).

Is there any way you can find out exactly what parts they tightened? My dealer tightened something - I think it was a control arm - about 2 years ago, but I still get the clunk sometimes when turning.

They are supposed to send me a more detailed description. I don't know for sure yet. He mentioned some kind of a bushing.

If I am not mistaken, it was the front sway bar bushing that was not tightened sufficiently.

I have the clunk too. I'm not an expert but I don't think it's the ABS check. I doesn't happen all the time. Always after taking off from a start in first gear (6M)
