Warrenty or What?

I just came out of my Acura Appreciation Event 45 point check up, and they tell me everything is ok, the car is in great conditions. Although the brakes are done. My steering wheel vibrates a bit when I'm braking, and they have been squeeling for over a week now. But, the dude still tells me everything is ok, that they didn't take the car for a driving test but when they checked them out that everything was fine. I asked if the brakes were still cover under my warrenty and he told me that the weren't b/c they are a wear and tear piece of equiptment. I've heard some of you guys say that under those same conditions that they swapped in new brakes and rotors all around under warrenty. How is that?

The brakes are wear and tear yes. BUT only the wearing of the pads is wear and tear. For example if you goto them and say "my pads wore out". That would be wear and tear because the brakes and wearing down and they are designed to do that. BUT vibration is NOT normal. That is not wear and tear. My dealer replaced pads and rotors no questions asked. I would try a different dealer.

There's been some talk that the pulsing you're feeling through the wheel is caused by the OEM pads leaving deposits on the rotors, hence the vibration. Switching to an aftermarket pad (Hawk, Axxis) has cured the problem for some.

Jeff Palmer over at ToV has an article posted that mentions this: http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...icle_id=493583

Alin is right, though. If you don't want to go the third party route, try a different dealer.

I would like to replace my pads with aftermarket ones say Hawk, but then I think I should switch out the rotors also since I've run 43,000 miles on the stock ones already. So, my price just went up to about 500 in total, I went to the dealer to just try and see what they could do under warrenty, this way I wouldn't have to spend a dime.

Tell them about the vibration problem.......not that the pads may be worn. Could be warped rotors........

I also took my car in for the 45 pt inspection, and everything came out fine. My brakes and rotors are shot, just like my dealer said. "It's a wear and tear item" So looking into getting crossed drilled or slotted rotors

He already mentioned 43,000 miles! I doubt you will get warranty. Your rotor is also a wear and tear item but if your rotor wrapped around 10000 miles than they will warranty you but not after 43000 miles.

they actually warranty up to 50,000 miles. So I was still in the deadline. I ended up installing aftermarket brakes, EBC green stuff, and all my problems were solved. I even ended up with better braking performance that I can feel day-in-n-out.

^^ warranty up to 50000 miles is for the car but exlude all wear and tear item. Rotor is wear and tear item.
