VTC actuator timing is off.
VTC actuator timing is off.
Does anyone know how to get the intake camshaft back into the correct timing and be at TDC?
My crankshaft is at TDC and so is my exhaust cam gear but the VTC actuator for the intake cam is pointing at 3 o'clock so pretty much 90 degrees to the right of TDC.
Last week after getting out of work I started my car and it idled at 700rpm then I went to the gym, got out of the gym to start my car and it was pulsing between 2000-3000rpm, I drove home and parked my car. The next morning my car wouldn't start, it just kept cranking but no start so I tore apart my valve cover and timing cover and found that the VTC actuator is off timing when at TDC.
I removed the timing chain, guides, etc under the timing cover because I knew the timing chain was stretched so I am going to replace all that but now how can I get the intake cam back into timing?
Tonight, I just removed the intake cam out of the motor but can I put it back in, tighten down all the cam guides and rotate just the intake cam by hand until it is at TDC to get the timing back in with the crankshaft and exhaust cam then remove the cam out again so I can replace the VTC actuator? I'm replacing my VTC actuator because it has the infamous rattle when I start my TSX.
Any help and knowledge would be helpful, thank you guys!
