I think you'd also need to get Hondata to make another reflash to take advantage of it.

I don't get the question? Does he already have Hondata and asking how to change it or is he asking how Hondata already gets it from 25 to 45?

I thought i saw this from one of Hondata's write ups, that it was necessary to change the cam timing from 25degrees (where's its set stock) to 45degrees (with mods)...unless you get the 45degrees when u reflash?? And no i dont have the Reflash yet..but planning to get it as soon as i get this out of the way.. If the Reflash comes with the cam timing change then i'll be Reflashed soon!

The reflash only involves the ECU. It will not change your cam timing from 25 to 45 degrees. This has to physically be done to the cam.

Quote form Hondata site: "TSX VTC mechanism showing material to be removed to increase the cam advance from 25-45 degrees"

Any machine shop can do that for you but as I mentioned before, I think you need to get a specific hondata reflash to take advantage of the mod. I doubt the computer will try to adjust past 25 degrees if it couldn't do it from the factory.

Skunk2 makes some cam gears for the K series. Might want to consider swapping those out instead. That way you get to keep your stock gears should you want them in the future.

I'm with the "Wouldn't this need a new reflash?" crew. Remember that Hondata did all their experimentation using a Kpro to facilitate modification, which I assume was dialed into every little change in the engine each dyno pull.

I think Dan is correct. I'm a noob though, so I'm not 100%.

Quote from Hondata article: To date Hondata can modify the VTEC point; rev limiter, fuel, ignition and cam angle tables for a naturally aspirated TSX.

I'm guessing the cam angle tables would have to be modified in order to advantage of it.

The normal reflash from Hondata probably won't be able to take advantage of the extended range of adjustment. I'm sure Hondata used a K-Pro or wrote a custom reflash to do the testing.

Come on Dan, you can use your nice machine shop to make and sell some 45 degree cam gear repleacements.

Then when hondata sees that this is an option, then they can sell reflash #2 for those with the gear.

I know I'd be on it in a second. I'm actually holding off on getting my hondata until this option is available. I'm hoping I don't die from holding my breath for so long.

Keep in mind that everything in their technical article was done for testing purposes.

It would take me about 30 minutes to make the program and about 10 seconds for the machines to do the cutting.

Maybe if Hondata offers the K-Pro or a reflash to take advantage of it, I could offer an exchange service for the gears.

I cant wait to get more in depth with Pro-E and Solid Works at school so i can start making custom parts on the CNC mill

Nah, real men use notepad for their G-Code.

I mostly use plain ol' CAD and SurfCAM.

I think its going to be a chicken or the egg deal. I'm thinking Hondata wouldn't take the time to offer the reflash until there is a gear to take advantage. And you wouldn't do it without a reflash to benifit. So hondata, if your listening, I will buy your reflash if you make a new one to take advantage of 45 degrees of adjust. Since they have already done the test, they know that it will work and should be just a matter of setting the new parameter in the table and chooseing, "file", "save as" and type "reflash #2". my

But, you need big bold letters for it to work though

The files might need to be 8.3 format so unfortunately your name wouldn't work.

My crystal ball says they won't release a specific reflash for this mod, instead they'll do a K-Pro and satisfy the needs of many mods.

I thought about it as I was typing it but but I was too lazy to mess with the capitalization.

That might not be the correct file extension. Most likely *.bin.
