VSA question

while talking with a technician at my Acura dealership, I raised the issue of VSA and whether it affects power when switched on but not active. he said he knows for sure that in the TL, VSA cuts power to 70 percent in first and second gear, and he's pretty sure it's the same for the TSX. This would mean 30 percent more power in first and second with VSA switched off, if true.
Does anyone out there have information about this?

I do feel like the car pulls more with the VSA off from stop. It may just be an illusion though.

Good question. Alot of smart people on forum. They should come up with something.

I kind of doubt it. I don't really feel any difference as long as I'm getting traction. I've got the Hondata reflash though so it's possible that could be a factor but Hondata doesn't mention anything about it. They seem to be pretty upfront about what they do with the reprogramming which is not all that much. Minor adjustments to the injector mapping and slightly more modification to the cam programming. There is no mention of anything to do with VSA and honestly, it's probably far too complicated to mess with.

When someone hands you a line like this ask for documentation. It sounds like this "technician" overheard someone who was misunderstood who ... well you get the idea. My BS detector runs full time.

I was given a loaner TL when my TSX was in the shop for A/C issues (I was one of the lucky ones who's system gernaded...yay for extended warranty), and the first thing I noticed was a 2-3 second lag when giving the car heavy throttle. Turning VSA off eliminated this.

With my TSX, I don't really notice any difference in performance with VSA off. So...

Thankx, all. I suspect any other posts would say pretty much the same; maybe a power reduction in the TL, not likely, or at least not as much power loss, in the TSX.
