Bent wheel? Bad bushing somewhere in the suspension?

Warped rotors. Have the rotors resurfaced and I bet the vibration goes away.

Are these the PIAA's? You've had them for a while now right? When did this start happening?

actually since i first got them, shop i brought them to for balancing said one of the wheels was slightly bent out of shape so i replaced it, however that didn't fix the issue, so i had them rebalance all four wheels and still have the problem

Perhaps it's a flaw in the tires -- like belt separation? Though that's quite rare.

Just a thought.

Yeah, that's a tough one. You can put your OEMs back on and see if the vibration goes away. That way you can be 100% sure it's the tire/wheels.

If you have the hubcentric rings and proper balancing those are the big things though. Wish I had some other ideas.

Rotate the wheels front-to-back and see if it diminishes.

I have the same issue... I took a ride w. my mechanic frined from Honda and he said some virbation can be caused by an uneven wear on tires.... or uneven road surface..... It will be a matter from balancing or allignment if the virbation is serious.

This issue has been beaten to death in this forum without one valid solution offered by any member. I have lived with this since getting the car, with colder weather making it more pronounced than on warmer days.

I'm pretty much at my fucking wit's end with regards to wanting to keep this piece of shit.

Have you tried the Hunter Road Force machine? I see jlukja mentioned that in an earlier post. You could have a slightly bent rim or a poorly matched rim and tire. The Hunter machine can correct for this. In simple terms no tire or rim is perfectly round. It could be that the "high" spot on the rim matches the "high" spot on the tire. If this were the case you would get a poor roll out. With the Hunter machine they can "force match" the rim and tire to correct for this. Good luck. I know how frustrating these vibrations can be...

No dumb-ass. Not yet.

Shouldn't you be out trying to outrun M35s with your POS?

How can a rotor be warped enough to vibrate the wheel yet not enough to be felt in the pedal? That doesn't make sense to me. You would feel a warped rotor in the pedal way before it would get bad enough to feel in the steering wheel.

The vibration I had wasn't at all speeds, just maybe from 40-60 mph. It would be smooth, then the steering wheel would shake a little, then it would be smooth again once you got past a certain speed. The Acura dealer would look at it and say the rotors were warped again. They would get resurfaced and the vibration went away. Could it have been something else by coincidence....sure, but the CL's were notorious for warped rotors. Anybody that had one would agree to that.

SOLUTION

Hunter Road Force is the only machines i will have my wheels balanced on ever again. Brought my TSX to the local ford dealership because they have one of these machines and after running my wheels on this machine they determined that they were definately not balanced properly before and had too many weights put on and in the wrong locations.

End result is my car drives smooth as butter at all speeds and i am very pleased.

Only downside was that the knuckleheads did not mount my directional tires going the right way...This is after i warned the service advisor that i had directional tires. He assured me that they were pros and would know what to do! I made the mistake of trusting him and totally forgot to double check if they mounted them properly until later detail when i was washing my wheels. That is when i noticed the arrows going in the wrong direction. Oh well, i can live with that until i get around to switching them back.

Congrats on solving the problem. I've always used road force balancing on all my cars.

thanks Jtso, definately goes to show that not all tools are created equally. what's even more sad is how many people spend money to have their wheels balanced everyday and are driving away with wheels that are not truly even balanced.
