Unnamed Roads?

My navi system displays "Unnamed Road" for every single road that I travel on except for major highways, and even sometimes it says the same for major highways. This has to be a problem because I know for a fact my buddy's TSX, which is the same year as mine, does not have this problem and every single road comes up on the screen.

If anyone can help me out I'd GREATLY appreciate it.
Thanks,
Brian

You'll probably find his DVD is a different revision to yours - Honda/Acura update the discs pretty much yearly. You were unfortunate perhaps that your's was provided with the last of the previous revision. Here in the UK, I think February or March is the month when the new version appears.

So I guess no one has had this problem before, I removed the disc and checked it out...orange disc version 3.2. The names of roads are displayed on the map, but when I'm on that road it is displayed "unnamed road" on the bottom of the screen. The system info says software version 1.32 database 20020930. The lastest disc version is 3.6 I think so maybe I'll just look into that.

Pop your disc into your friend's TSX and see if the same thing occurs on his system. If so, then it's time to update to a newer disc. I don't have navi but that seems like a sensible choice before you start stressing about it.

Anyone know what "F-Can" stands for under the nav system diagnostic menu? I found out how to access the diagnostic menu and noticed under this "F-Can" it says active error. Looks like I'll be taking it to my dealer this weekend.

Yes, the names of roads don't show up on the screen except major highways. I figured that it was the outdated disc, but when I went to the navi diagnostic menu it reads "active error" under the F-CAN tab. The road names are displayed on the actual map, but when I drive on that specific road, the name does not appear on the bottom of the screen. Every single road is displayed "Unnamed Road".

I did a search on the internet and came up with this (I will let you interpret the meaning):

FCAN/BCAN TESTS

These are used to diagnose Fast Controller Access and Body Controller Area Network communication systems. The tests are meaningless without a Honda Scan tool.

Well I actually figured out the problem. I messed around with the system diagnostic menu again today and just for the hell of it I re-installed the navi disc. System rebooted and main menu looked slightly different...font size was smaller and noticed some other things. Anyway, drove to the bank 30 mins ago and every street came up on the screen. Finally!
Thanks to everyone for their help.
