TSX has bad MPG by default?
I think something is seriously wrong with my car, everything works fine only except i get an average around 7mpg.
Is this normal for stock configuration? I havent flashed my ecu yet but you shouldnt have to hack the ecu just to get near at least a decent MPG average right?
I put in premium 93 grade gas, What else could i check?
If i accelerate really hard i can see the gas needle animating.. What the hell is the deal?

Your car has to be running like garbage too. There's no way you can dump that much fuel through an engine this small and have it run right... hell, I'm surprised it can even run at all. I have to suspect a fuel leak as well.

Have you calculated your MPG or are you going by the MID? If its showing you 7MPG but you calculate a normal MPG number then maybe the sensors that compute MPG are bad. If you run the numbers yourself and come up with 7MPG you have a serious problem.
I don't think the O2 sensor could be throwing the ECU that far off without the ECU noticing that the sensor is bad and throwing a code. The gas has to be going somewhere other than in the engine because the engine would be drowning trying to run that rich.
Some of you get 40mpg??? I get on average 24-26mpg. My air filter and oil are changed regularly. Tire pressure is good and checked. I am a bit of a lead foot, but I dont recall ever getting more than 26 mpg on a good day. Anything else I can check?

The thing is, some of you guys probably like to floor it once an a while... watch the MPG drop while you are doing it.
With conservative (but no hypermiling) driving (i do 60% highway, 40% city), you could easily get 30mpg. Use shell v-power, too.

Even with a heavy foot, he should be getting at least 10mpg.

Since Mr "czr" has dropped a BS bomb on us with no feedback, I say let this thread die an honorable death. No TSX in the world can run crappy enough to get 7 mpg unless he forgets to shut it down each night.
What's your driving mix like? I get about the same results when I'm doing lots of short trips or driving in the city where I spend half my time sitting stopped at traffic lights waiting for no body (grrr). I can easily get over 500 miles out of a tank with pure highway miles though so I don't think anything is wrong.

? I think you'd have to drive in D3 100% of the time to get 7 MPG.[1] I'm calling
.[1] I've done this. Driving on a campus and a dark crowded parking garage, I'll start off in D3, then when I hit the main road, wonder why my engine's revving so much. D'oh ... shift in to D, dummy.
I just returned Sunday from a trip across SE states. I averaged about 37 mpg on last tank from S Miss. to Houston (very flat road). Peak mileage was over 39 mpg. I was driving about 70 mph for most part, but some slower due to traffic and reduced speed limit.
I would have the fuel system carefully checked for leaks.
good luck

37 MPG hand calculated, or as calculated by the on dash MID display?
Auto or manual?
I've had my 06 TSX for 2 years now. very well maintained, very nice and stock when I bought it.
I do 90% highway mileage, usually at 60mph.
I never stomp it, I never drive crazy, and the absolute BEST I could ever get on a tank was 29 mpg hand calculated. MID display was in the 32mpg range.
My average over 40k miles while stock in this car (again, 90% highway. I'm in TX too. Very flat roads for the most part) is 27mpg. After lowering, its still gettong exactly the same.
I tried all sorts of different driving techniques and no matter what, it would average 26-27 mpg on the tank. all hand calculated, of course. No CEL, no engine problems, proper tire air pressure, regular maintenance, no issues etc.
this is very frustrating to me. Mixed tanks i could see 26-27 average as reasonable. I have 15+ years of experience with Hondas, and over 3+ years of owning a 93 civic coupe my AVERAGE mpg was 45+. So I know how to drive economically.
I see regular reports of auto tsx's averaging 30+. And I know most people drive like idiots. of course I don't know if this is hand calculated or MID, but most people are saying hand calculated.
It seems like I'm splitting hairs to most people, but I figured I could average 30+ in this car with no problems whatsoever considering I do all highway and I know how to drive economically. btw, I've tried entire tanks of 60mph. 70mph. 80mph trying to find the "sweet spot" but NO MATTER WHAT, at the end of the tank it comes out at 27mpg. No matter what! It's annoying! Quite frankly it pisses me off.

I had a leak (injector-rail oring) on 94 Accord injector that was difficult to see and was detected by smell/feel. I had worked on the engine and removed the fuel rail, so I was suspicious when I smelled gas strongly.
