i have a 2004 tsx, when my car is in park or neutral, alll i hear is a whining from the tranny, the mechanic said its the pump in the tranny, the noise goes away when i am in drive or reverse. any suggestions about my problem? what to do? similar problems?

 

I've not heard this issue before, but I'm willing to bet the mechanic is correct.

I'm inclined to agree with your mechanic. It would seem that once the fluid is diverted (into drive or reverse), it bypasses whatever pump it is that's whining. What to do? You probably have a few options. Continue to drive it and hope that the parts of the tranny that actually do the work stay together and it continues to work OK (probably unlikely). You could continue to drive it until something else goes wrong (probably likely), then have it fixed. Or.... you could have it fixed soon (might be wise before something really goes wrong inside).
