I bought my car (TSX 2005) in 2009, with the center console burnt out, which I had chose to ignore (since it wasn't a big issue for me). Just today while driving home both my Audio stopped working and my transmission wouldn't engage in reverse gear. My Car is stuck in Drive or Neutral, while the center console responds when you press the buttons, ( I was able to take out my CD from the console) everything else doesn't work on it. I was hoping if anyone can help me out and guide me before I get raped at the dealer

 

Check the cables under the car for the drive and neutral problem see if they are cought on something or hung up or pinched or starting to break and for the center console I would look on eBay for one that works. Depending on if you have navi or not you could get one for a few hundred. The dealer will charge that just to look at it and if you buy one from eBay and it doesn't work sell it again or bring it to the dealership. But try to avoid them b/c if they say you need a new one its 8k for a navi unit and 1-2k for the non navi so either way you might have to buy a used one.

 

what do you mean by the center console was burnt out? that the display on the radio was dim? That was a common problem on TSX and Accords in 2004/2005 in which Honda extended the warranty on the radio.

When you say that the car is stuck in neutral/drive is the shifter physically stuck and won't leave those two positions (assuming you have an automatic). Can you get the shifter into sport mode? do those work? What about the other position D3(?)

Is there a CEL? I'm wondering if your gear selector sensor has failed
