Tranny issues?

Well gang. . .I was under the impression that I would be investing in a used 04-08 TL soon, but after realizing that nothing but transmission issues plague the beast. . .

I'm not thinking more towards a TSX. But what say the TSX crowd on AZ? Similar transmission issues as the 04-08 TLs?

AFAIK, no transmission issues at all (MT or AT). The TL's were/are notorious for bad transmissions, but nothing like that for the TSX so far.

The 2004's have their own repetitive problems (search is your friend), but later 1GEN years seem to deliver the usual, apocryphal Honda/Acura reliability.

Yeah, I did a quick search and it certainly didn't yield the same results as it would have, or as I've seen over in the TL forum.

This is great news though, appreciate it. Staying away from the TL's for now unless I fall into some cash and can buy new, lol

Thanks

As far as I know, the 04-08 TLs didn't have the same tranny problems as the previous gen. I've seen a few threads, but they are few and far between.

I haven't heard of any tranny problems on the TSX, though. However, I'd stay away from 2004s because they have some problems of their own, as previously mentioned.

I had the tranny on my 04 6MT TSX replaced a couple months back, ~46K on the odometer, about a month before the end of my warranty. Got in to drive to work one morning, heard this rotational slapping sound as I drove. Dealer took the tranny apart, about 6 teeth were sheared off the differential. There was no warning leading up to this, and there was nothing out of the ordinary that I did that I could think would cause this. They didn't offer any explanation of how it could have happened but also did not suggest I was at fault. They did the work under warranty. I'm not offering this as a reason not to buy a TSX over a TL because I do think it's isolated, but wanted to relay my experience.

mines is a 04 and the only problem imo that i'm having is its kinda rough shifting into 6th gear. im passed warranty and dealer basically just change the tranny oil twice and blamed my power wire for my system that was above the shift linkage was casusing the problem. I've moved the power wire away and still have the same problem.
