Taillight issue, want to remove trunk lining
Taillight issue, want to remove trunk lining
Hey guys,
I have an issue with my trunk light, and I am absolutely sure it's not the bulb because when I open my trunk, the light turns off. When I begin to close it, at a degree, the light will turn on. I am 100% sure it's a connection issue (wiring), and I want to trace the wiring to and from the bulb, to make sure anywhere along the way, the wire is not exposed, or loose.
I looked for DIY to remove this trunk lining, and found a few, but not sure if this is correct. This DIY shows how to remove lining to install HID tail lights, but includes pics on how to remove the lining.
Unfortunately, this DIY is not what i want, because the problem is not the taillight on the trunk lid, it's on the other light (the second circular light from the right side).
If anyone has better pictures on how to remove ths lining, I would greatly appreciate it!
Also, i think i read somewhere that I need to remove the back seats in order to fully remove the lining. I don't think I need to completely remove it, I just want enough workspace to determine where the wire goes. If anyone knows where it goes, that would also be great!
Thanks!!!

it is a 2004, right? there's a safety recall on the trunk lid harness wiring for that issue. https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-problems-fixes-128/taillight-wiring-seal-recall-tsx-652888/
Hopefully that TSB will get the job done
To get access to that light you need to remove the lining on the lip of the trunk. There are some trim buttons holding the bottom of that piece to the trunk floor. There are clips on the lip maybe every 8-10 inches. Use a flat trim tool to feel your way to each clip and pop them straight up. Remove this back piece. Then you can remove the visible black trim 'buttons' on the side trim piece, but there is a hidden clip that runs up the side of the trunk opening. Use that flat trim tool to find it and pop it straight out.
I posted some pics years ago on the trunk net install which involves removing this trim. You may want to look for install instructions for the trunk net.
