swish sound when braking

Hey there,

just noticed this yesterday. When I step on the brake, I hear a swish sound. It's quite noticable when I'm at a stop and put my car in neutral(I have an automatic) and I step on the brake. It swishes as I press down on the brake and the brake feels very soft and mushy. Is it possible there is a leak in the line or that there's air in it. Also, when you press it down firmly to the point where it seems like it's at the bottom, if you try to press alittle more, it will still depress and will make a little swishing sound, kinda like leaking air. Is this normal... Has anyone else experienced this. You need to turn off the radio and roll up the windows to hear the swishing sound though...
any advice.

Have you ruled out that it's not the actual the pedal mechanism/spring making the noise and not the brake system?

I have that sound as well and I took it to the dealer to have it looked at. They told me it was normal and the sound is caused by the brake booster. I don't believe that, since this is my first car that has this sound. They told me there was no air in the hydraulics. I guess i will see when i do my brake flush.

Did the sound remain after your flush?
