Are such noises common in a new TSX???

ok, just bought a carbon grey, automatic, and at only 40 miles i hear a terrible noise...

1. loud scraping, like something in the wheel metal against metal. sounds like dust shield against rotor. but its not touching. it also sounds like when you need a new belt and it makes that noise. heard it twice for like 5-10 sec and went away.

2. also a dull click when shifting to drive (auto). is that normal in these cars?

3. and lastly, it shakes a bit before 1500 rpms i dont know if this is normal for these cars/engines or what?? im soo pissed there is less than 50 miles on the car!
please help, thanx!

BTW, last car was a 2000 maxima 5spd, i was on maxima.org had like 1300 posts, not new to cars but new to hondas. i love the TSX but noises like this at 50 miles in unacceptable!

THANX, look forward to enjoying a new forum.

Are any of these noises only occurring once when you start moving? The owner's manual says there is an initial "groan" when you start moving and it is the VSA turning on. I definetely notice it most of the time.

That squeling sound could be a pebble stuck in the brake rotors, a member had that problem before maybe you should have the dealer look at it.

Glad I found this thread. I have a new 07 CGP and have been hearing the same sounds, especially the one with braking groan sound and the other problem with I guess the VSA turning on.

With the VSA turning on, will this apply when I am at a stop then start moving again as well? When I am at a stop and then start moving again that groaning ghost comes back...but it is only occasionally.

I think you could test this by turning off VSA temporarily using the switch by your left knee.

No, the vsa system only does that as a startup routine when you first start moving after turning the car on. It seems to me to be only noticeable when the engine is cold, like for the first start of the day. Although, I can't explain that part.
