Strange problem.. or it could be my paranoia?

So I’ve had 136k problem free miles on my 04 6MT… but recently a few things has me a little concerned… I posted on a diff thread for 1 problem.. but this one I couldn’t find any other threads on..

The last few days.. while driving on the highway (read: speeds 60 – 80mph) I feel like I’m noticing a “slight hesitation” while maintaining a steady cruising speed. It is VERY slight, almost like it’s not there.. but def noticeable… and after driving for a while (20 miles or so) the problem seemed to disappear.

I don’t notice the hesitation while accelerating or decelerating.. ONLY when maintaining a steady speed… I usually have a steady foot so I can keep my speed pretty consistent w/o using the cruise control.

So it could totally be in my head.. but I feel like I def notice something. One main reason I feel that way is if I put the car into Cruise control, the “hesitation” seems to go away.. and I can feel it again once I manually try to maintain the steady speed.

Any guesses as what it could be? my initial thoughts were a bad fuel pump or filter.. but then it’d be doing it consistently, cruise control or not. Could it be something with the accelerator pedal??

so.. I did more searching and randomly thought it might be the gas pedal? since while on Cruise control.. it'd be fine.. and so I came across this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-tsx-problems-fixes-128/2004-tsx-has-rough-engine-686263/

def seems like the same problem I'm experiencing...

So.. the Accelerator Pedal Sensor.. anyone else have to replace one of these? Or know of a reliable place to order one from?

I see one here:
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...AL_SENSOR_ASSY.

the diagram doesn't look like it's too bad to replace myself.. any comments?

Also, would it make sense that while having it on Cruise Control.. the car is fine? It would make sense if the car bypasses the Accelerator Pedal Sensor while on cruise (since, it doesn't need to measure the throttle position)

Thanks in advance!

Are you driving with the A/C on? When I'm cruising on the highway or freeway I can feel a "lag" or hesitation when trying to maintain a constant speed. I attributed with the A/C compressor clutch engaging/disengaging. When I turn the A/C off, this sensation goes away completely. Unlike your situation, I've noticed this since day 1 however.

Tried with with the AC on and Off... same issue. That's what I initially thought it was as well.

43 pages in the service manual on checking DTC codes for the electronic throttle system and another page on diagnosing a bad APP sensor. Gotta say I think you need someone with a Honda Computer to feel good about this one, especially since one of the procedures is adjusting the cable to set a desired setting of less than 2% from the APP to the ECU.

Sorry, I think I punt on this one, the change is easy...the adjustment could leave the car undrivable for some period.

You are not crazy!

I have he exact same problem. I have an 04 6MT with 98,000 miles and this problem started at around 75,000. It was a minor annoyance that I eventually became tired of. I finally broke down and brought it to the local Honda dealer for repair. They could not figure it out. I am going to forward this to American Honda to see if there is a fix. I would be interested if you have resolved your issue and how. Best regards....:
