Question steering wheel shakes when braking

I have observed that occasionally the steering wheel on my 05 TXS shakes/shudders when braking. I dont think it is a wheel alignment or balancing issue since I just got 4 new tires less than a month ago. I also had the dealership check the brakes on the car at my last service and they said i could go on for another 20K on those brakes.

I read something about brake shudder comebacks in the october service bulletin. I am not sure how it applies to my situation.

Any suggestions will be helpful.

Thanks,
Ravi

Did they check the run out on the rotors? Sounds like rotor warpage or a build up of pad material on the disc. It's a common problem and there tons and tons of threads on the topic. Try searching for "brakes shaking".

yup warped rotors sucks but it happens. see if you dealer can mill them down and fix it. if not you will need new rotors which always sucks.

I agree with the warped rotor diagnosis, but I wouldn't waste your time and or money with turning the rotors. Just replace them; they're cheap enough. I just replaced all 4 of them on my 05 and it the cured the problem. You can easily find 4 rotors for around $200 and replace them yourself; it's a fairly easy job with hand tools. Plenty of threads here on how to do it too.
