Exclamation Squeaky Brakes (high pitched noise)

Hey Fellow Tsx Owners,

I have a 2004 Tsx w/ navi and the car is great, however, I am having a huge issue with squeaky brakes.

I have went into Acura five times and they have re-surfaced the rotor, machined the brakes, and also today they cleane the brakes. Acura service has put me in the corner, saying that they cannot do anyting else unless they "change the design" of the brakes. I have even contacted a regional manager for Acura, Brice Price who you can contact at 800-382-2238 x115920

I am fed up with their lack of support for this issue and I want to start a petition for all TSX owners who are having the same issue.

If you are expereicing this issue, please sign this petition with your name and email address. We deserve the level of service that we paid for!

Thanks everyone for your help!

Did they replace the pads, and apply anti-squeal coating on the pads and shims?

Anytime someone is complaining about the brakes, I have to wonder: "are your braking habits contributing to the problem in some way?"

front brakes began to warp little by little at 15,000 miles. so took it to the dealer and just done a break job under warranty today.
they actually replaced the front rotors and pads with brand new ones.

Mine have been squeaking recently for me, as well, but it seems that my squeals are coming mainly from the rear brakes. I've tried de-glazing (freeway, hard braking) them, but it only works for a day or two.

When I took my car to the dealer for maintenance, they reported my brakes were glazed, and deglazed them. Worked for a few days.

Sounds to me like you need to alter your braking habits. If your brakes are glazing over that often, then it has something to do with how you're braking and not necessarily the equipment.

They have replaced the pads and when i went yesterday Acura wrote on the invoice, front and rear brakes have "75% left". It isnt my braking habits becuase this noise occured about two weeks after they replaced the pads. Trust me, I love my car.

My car began squeling with around 3000km and finally with with 5800km I took her in for the first oil change. They looked at the brakes and the comment was " your braking is too long and slow, you need to do quicker harder stops so they don't glaze."

They machined them, but I told them if ti happens again, that I wanted new rotors. This shouldn't have happend this fast. I down shift to stop regularly....And every other car i have has in the last 5 years, which is mx6-z24-accord, didnt' have braking problems.

I'm pretty gentle with the brakes with occasional hard stops, and I had the squealing problem since 22k miles (now at 28k miles). At 22k miles, they replaced the front rotors and brake pads because the rotors were warped, car was also vibrating too when braking. Then after 2k miles, brakes started squealing again. I told them brakes were squealing and expected them to just make some adjustments.... well, rotors and pads replaced again at 25k miles, they told me they need to replace them again and told me that was the last time. Two days later they started squealing again. I gave up complaining at this point

I've noticed that it squeals only when you brake very lightly nearing a stop, and usually after your car was parked (whether it's 15 minutes or 1 day), it's kind of strange.

Also, right before the replaced the front rotors, I remember there was one time where there was this horrible metal scraping sound coming from the brakes, even when I'm just driving. This happened one more time a couple of weeks ago... I'm afraid something's wrong again.

I think the problem is, the stock brake pads just suck.

I'm having the same issue. I've had Acura and Firestone check out the breaks and they always say that they're fine. They clean them too, which stops the squeaking for about a day. I see that neilp is having this problem too, but I wanted to see if more response is here by bumping this. Thanks!

I've got the exact same thing. I had the pads/rotors replaced in November 06 and they've been squealing ever since.

problem with my brakes since first few months of buying the car... checked this forum inside out and no "real" answer. no real answer from honda/acura either.

some dealers are willing to perform warranty service, but some say its your driving, which i dont agree with because this isnt the first car i drove, this is my 5th, and i never had this problem in my previous 4 cars so its not my "bad" driving according to acura's FINE service representatives...
altho this is my first honda/acura, i dont hear older hondas having this problem, but i come here and read MANY tsx owners have this problem....
my previous cars (again all without this problem) were: buick park ave, toyota camry, nissan altima, toyota 4runner, and now the tsx......

My 04 has about 65K miles and got new brakes in 11/06. I noticed the squeaking back then but appears to be getting worse now. I haven't really brought it up to the dealer yet.

I looked at my rotors after having my winter rims replaced with the OEM alloys for the summer. The rotors are already etched (replaced Nov 06), and of course the rotors are rusted extensively on the surface from all that salt. I'm kicking myself for installing the OEM pads/rotors instead of some decent aftermarket brand.

My car's at 5K+ miles...

And its also "sqeaking"... Thought it was dirty, and i went for car wash.. and still end up having the sound.

But, will the warranty still covers it if i already... Changed the wheels, lowered the car, painted the caliper?!!?

Apparently there is a service bulletin to this (anyone have a link to it?). I took my TSX in for my 50K service and I mentioned that my steering wheel was shimmying when braking. He said that there was a service bulletin in regards to the front brake pads causing too much heat which warped the rotors. So they replaced my front pads with the new upgraded versions and resurfaced my front rotors.

I've updated our FAQ section with the latest links to the TSBs. You're looking for TSB 07-021.
