If you are trying to "trick" the odometer reading, the ECU will not lie in the end, unless you change that too . . .. still not sure what you are asking anyway
acuragosc-
i saw you post on another board with a better explanation of your question here
hope you got it worked out . . . . . i thought you were trying to avoid putting miles on the odometer

Can we get a link? I'd like to understand what he was trying to ask since we obviously scared him off.

Looking over our posts, this person must be pretty sensitive if we scared him off. We were all just kidding around like usual.

fld is probably right about the lease perhaps. Anyway, I think that is a pretty bold question to pop out as a new member or a senior member at that

Something about how to disconnect the mileage meter . . . and it it was electronic or direct to the tranny if I remember correctly. I took it as he wanted to bypass the odemeter reading.

Difficult, but do-able and also highly illegal. I'm pretty sure tampering with the odometer is highly frowned upon anywhere and everywhere in the US and Canada.
I had a friend who bought a Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T with "60,000" miles on it. Turns out, the person that sold the car had rolled back the odo. The actual mileage on the car was 160,000+ miles. Needless to say, the car was in sad shape after a while and eventually blew the motor.
