Speed o meter not working??

Okay so my car is fine and nothing is wrong with it. I have 4000 miles on it and haven't been in an accident. Today was a normal day. I woke up and dropped off my girlfriend at her place and then went to the grocery store. I turn on my car and drive as usual, but for some reason the Speedometer is not working! So there are no engine warning lights.. etc. I pull over. Turn off the car and turn it back on and the speedometer is still busted. Any advice or similar problems??

Interesting, take it to the dealer, I think this is an isolated problem because no one else but you have mentioned the speedometer failing.

Keep us posted, this seems interesting.

if you have a 6MT pop it in neutral when you aren't moving and rev your engine.. it stops somewhere around 4500 5500? i forget, but I can't rev higher then that, and the odometer and speedometer are both not working.

Might be your speed sensor. That seems to effect a lot of things when it goes bad.

If your speedometer isn't working properly, call the dealership and have them tow it in for inspection.

I don't know about your area, but I'm pretty sure it's some sort of safety and traffic violation to have a malfunctioning sensor and be on the road.

Also, it should be under warranty and considering where the failure is, I'd think they'd want to fix it fast just because of the possible bad PR.

this is normal, if you are in neutral the ECU stops you from blowing up your engine by revving like crazy. It lowers the fuel cutoff.

I know that is normal. But when I am going 30 MPH I still can't redline because the limiter remains on while driving in gear.

I know that!!! stupid, read the post you moron, if you're car is not moving then the limiter is set at 4,500 RPM. If you are moving you can bring it up to 7,000. When I'm driving my car thinks I'm going 0 mph so the limiter kicks in at 4,500 ALL THE TIME. so 4,500 is my redline! Read everything before you go telling me what's up, I know already.

and for anyone else interested. I'm taking my car into the dealership Friday to have it checked out. I'll keep you guys posted on what happened to my speedometer.

Well, moron, I think you need to work on your writing skills. The above sentence means nothing. You are saying that you cannot redline it going 30 MPH since the limiter is on while driving in gear. That info by itself is meaningless. You did explain your RPM problem in another thread but you haven't explained it here. Just saying that you cannot redline it because the limiter kicks on, without further explanation is pure stupidity.

Even go back and read your second post, the third message in this thread. Your writing in that post makes it look like you are trying to get the RPM past 5000 or so in neutral.

But hey, chill out..

However, joerockt, :sqntfawk: :sqntfawk:
