Speakers: broken or disconnected?
Hey,
I had my car in for major engine repairs; I don't want to say "and now...", because I'm not sure of the timing, but my back speakers (the ones behind the headrest) don't work at all. I don't know if I blew them awhile ago and nobody has said anything until now or if they somehow got disconnected when they were fixing my engine...if that's even possible.
How can I check? Thoughts?

I'm assuming you're referring to the 6x9s in the parcel shelf. I highly doubt they're broken. Something must be disconnected. The first (and easiest) thing to check would be the actual speaker connectors. Just open the trunk and see that the speaker wire harnesses are plugged into the speakers. After that, it can get more tricky. Speakers are generally very robust and they tend to not just stop working altogether, especially not both of them at the same time.
Did you check the bass settings and fade? The 6x9s are set up to play bass tones only so if the bass is very low, they may not do anything. Do the other rear speakers work fine?
The troubleshooting chart is rather long, but since it is (presumably) only affecting the 6x9s, check fuse No. 5 (20A) and No. 32 (7.5A) in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
After that, you have to gain access to the amp and start measuring voltages and continuity across terminals.

Wow, ok, I'll check those things out and let you know. Thx for the help.
My bass is definitely working...in fact, it seems to be working TOO well: I have to turn it down to about half for it to not sound like it's overpowering the track.
All the other speakers work fine...or at least are outputting sound that SOUNDS right.

This is weird. If the bass is working "too" well, are you sure you have a problem at all? I mean, you shouldn't hear any "music" out of the 6x9s, only the bass beat. These things really sound like subwoofers at around 45Hz so if you are hearing good bass or "too much" bass, it's likely the work of the 6x9s. The other speakers in the car aren't good at producing deep or prolonged bass tones.
