Slow start on occasion

I have been noticing a slow start. There really is no pattern, but it is happening 1-2x a week. Anybody else experience this issue?

I've noticed some hesitation but i'm not sure what's causing it yet. The hesitation occurs randomly. I have noticed though that if you turn the key to ON for about 3 seconds before trying to crank the engine it helps out.

My theory is that sometimes there isn't enough fuel in the system for an instant crank resulting in a slight hesitation. The fuel pump can't start providing fuel before the engine starts cranking. If you have your hood and door open while turning the key to ON you can hear the fuel pump arming.

I'm no mechanical engineer or mechanic so my guess is as good as yours...

In order to meet emission control, the TSX engine is started with a very lean mixture. The engine start slowly when you crank -it.
