Slight "clunk" noise

Note, this is not the ABS self-test that is often mentioned.

I have noticed a slight clunk noise when moving at very slow speeds (e.g. parallel parking, turning into a parking spot).

I have only noticed it if the wheel is turned slightly to the right and then when you bring the steering wheel back to dead center.

You can also replicate it by turning the wheel back and forth while parked from being slightly to the right to center.

I have tried to see where it is coming from but I can't hear it from outside the car (e.g. turning the wheel and listening with the door open). I can hear and feel it from inside the car, however.

Is this normal? Am I missing something? The car drives great otherwise and does not have any alignment or apparent steering problems. Just want to see if I am being overly sensitive or if someone knows of a hidden problem I may be missing. Thanks!

^^ a logical place to start.

ckiggins, can you tell if its coming from the front? Also check the bolts holding your front shock/strut assembly. I was getting a slight clunk and found the left assembly bolts to be loose (the mechanic who did my a-spec swap only hand tightened them )

I have this too, on turns and when braking (the braking thing might be something different). I'll have the tech check it out on my next oil change.

I'm pretty sure it's coming from the front - 99.9% positive. It's only happening when you turn the steering wheel (even at a standstill). The car is bone stock so I would hope that everything is tightened from the factory! eek!
