Break-in!!!

Well,

My car was broken into last night between 1am and 7:30am
found that the rear-driver side passenger window was shattered and my bookbag was gone through...but it looks like nothing was taken....

it doesn't look like they opened the car up as the alarm would've went off...

called the insurance and the police dept..

pics to follow...

has anyone that has gone through this experience know if the glass repair shops replace the window with the factory window..i.e..ones with the honda emblem embossed on them??

Ouch...that sucks, dude. Can't really help you with experience on replacing the glass, but it sounds like a good aftermarket system from one of the major competitors with a glass break sensor would fit the bill for your alarm needs.

Didn't realize you lived in such a rough neighborhood...

It was because of your bookbag. Never leave valuable items in sight.

That sucks. Sorry it happened. Any other damage besides the broken glass? If not then you should consider yourself lucky that only the glass panel needs replacing. It could have been worse.

Dude, your luck seems to be like mine....i got hit last night (see my thread)!

I had my car broken into once (not my TSX) and i was away at school but for $100 a glass company came down and fixed my window in about an hr in half and my insurance went up like $100 for the year for some reason. I think the company was called Glass Max, see if you can find them. They did a great job!

i feel for you man, the headunit from my accord was stolen back in July, but the suckers got caught. they smashed the drivers side window. luckily i did have insurance on the car (battled it out w/ state farm)

as far as the TSX glass goes, don't worry about replacement glass, there's no difference in the replaced winshields i've had. and I don't know if an alarm is all that necessary, just leave stuff in your trunk.

I agree, alarm will not save it. I was actually annoyed with aftermarket alarm on my previous car.

Like it was said earlier alway put away things out of sight, either in the trunk or take it with you. Just because you might have 5% tinted glass doesn't make your items invisible.

I usually don't park my car where I feel it's going to be unsafe. If I have to go to the place where I know it won't be safe I take my wife's beater which we don't even lock sometimes. However, if you don't have the luxury of owning a beater then just be careful where you park your car.

First off sorry to hear that...i know what its like, no fun

i had my passenger-side rear-window broken this past summer (laptop, briefcase, weekend bag with all my clothes, ipod, pda, and my Identity all stolen) all while out of town on business. Bank account liquidated and overdrawn in the thousands.

Had the window replaced locally with a non-Honda part, cost $179 and looks/works perfectly.

Moral of the story..never ever leave anything within site in your car, no matter how long you're away from your car. Noone should have to deal with the headache, frustration and lost time/business as I had to endure.

Everything belongs in the trunk
/end rant

Dang, that sucks sucks man. Sorry to hear about that J. I'm glad they didn't pop the hood.

No aftermarket alarms are full proof, but if you get one, you should also get some of the inexpensive add-ons modules.

If you have an alarm with glass break mic, battery backup, and internal piezo siren then it's a pretty good setup, I've heard
