Side Sill Replacement

Had an encounter with a curb while pulling out of a parking spot yesterday and scraped up my passenger side sill pretty badly.

I just ordered a replacement sill and was wondering if installation is as easy as it looks.

From the diagram, looks like I have to remove the screws on both ends and the screw in the middle. Then pull the sill off the clips? I was warned that the clips might break. Thanks!

Thanks, I figure people take the sill off when they install their body kit skirts, so it won't be that hard, just wanted to see if there were any tips or FYIs

its really simple actually. this is on most car ...

there's screw at each end of the side sill. on our car .. i think there's 3 at each end. after you remove those screws, there's tabs under the side sill (diagram, #18). then push the side sill towards the rear as the side sill slides on and secured by part # 22 & 23.

Go slow & double check as I myself have not removed them myself. I'm still looking for a stock 06-08 side sill for a good price.

My buddy at the body shop told me to push the sill towards the front wheel, but, it'll make more sense to slide it to the rear, with the flare on the back of the sill.

What happened to your sill? Where are you located? I'm replacing my passenger side sill. It does have a 8-10in scratch at the bottom (due to a curb).

Diy

Here's a quick DIY if anyone else in the future needs it:

1. Undo the three screws on each side of the sill (a stubby screwdriver works just fine for the screws in the front wheel well. I used a phillips head bit with pilers to take out the rear, since the stubby didn't fit in the space (my tsx is lowered with Htechs, not sure if how much clearance you'll have at stock height)).

2. There are two plastic push pins screws on the under side of the car (middle and front). Use a flat head screwdriver to pop them out.

3. Additionally, there's a plastic bolt that you'll need to undo (on the rear of the sill). I believe it's a 10mm sized bolt. Be careful, didn't realize it was plastic and I snapped the bolt right in half while trying to remove it.

4. Slide the sill towards the rear of the car, you'll hear the sill slide out of the clips. The section connected to the front wheel well is a little tricky. It doesn't slide out easily and may still be attached to the clip. The front part of the sill does detach, so work on getting that detached so it'll be easier to remove (shown in the diagram).

5. The replacement sill should have the clips on the plastic. If not, remove the plastic clips on the car and place them on the new part (there are a good amount, the diagram only shows three, but there are about 8-10 clips (parts 20, 22, 23 on the diagram)).

6. Just line up the sill to the holes for the clips on the car. Pop them in place (required me to open the rear passenger door, to pop in the rear sections in properly).

Pretty simple removal and install. I was told to slide the sill back into place when reinstalling, and wasted 30mins trying to slide that sucker in. I realized that you could just pop them into place.

Hopefully these instructions will save someone else time. Sorry no pics, but hopefully the diagram and my write make it straight forward

my driver side side sill got gouged by the dealer's tech while they were checking for wind noise. they repaired it and looked ok at the time, but as time passed .. clearly was a half ass job.

I'm in cali. want the 06-08 cuz it looks a bit more aggressive than the 04-05 but not as aggressive as the Aspec sides for 04-05.

Yea i would have recommended to just pop out those white/black sliders instead of sliding the side sill back on =)
