Service Required?
The MID shows that i have a b1 service due soon at about 5800 miles and 15% oil life.. i've had 1 previous oil change.. According to the manual, the B class requires more then just an oil change (such as tire rotations, brake inspection, parking brake alignment) so i was wondering if this is a little soon for so much maintenance... is it really required? I could pretty much do everything myself.. if i just change the oil and filter will the minder go away?

I know what you mean, I got the same thing during my second oil change and thought exactly like you did(was about 8000 miles though). All I did was change the oil and the filter though. Did anyone else follow the manual on this?
first off all they are doing is "inspecting" ie looking at the brakes and the ebrake cables. However; other than that all that is being done is a lube and filter with a tire rotation. You can inspect your own brakes, and the ebrake cables are good for a very LONG time. However to check this with the rear wheels off pull the ebrake and take a peek I believe the rear calipers will grip and infact you should see a lil line running to them other than the typical brake line and that is teh ebrake cable. I would not worry about it though with your small amount of mileage you shouldn't have any issues.
Any decent oil changing place will lube your moving chasis parts while they are down their changing your oil just like the dealership would. So save yourself the money.
