Why would reset the light instead of just having it serviced?

My light just came on two, at about 4000 miles, but I still have 15% of my oil life left -- it's just an advisory at this point. I wouldn't worry about getting it done until it drops to 5%.

If you click the "I" button on your steering wheel, the message will go away until the next time you start your car.

It's really not a good idea to clear the service indicator without having the corresponding service done -- that defeats the entire purpose of the system.

1. Open glovebox
2. Remove manual
3. Read

Its all covered in your car's manual. Its right in the section about the maintenance minder system and oil changes, and what to do if you change your own oil or have a non-dealer do it.

The steps you posted above refer to resetting the automatic 10k mile flashing maintenance light, vs the maintenance minder system in the MID. Again, its all in the manual. It really is worth it to spend an hour one night and just read the whole book.

put the key in the ignition, turn to the on position, and hold the "select/reset" button on the steering wheel for approx. 10 seconds. The MID will now show you the service warning "a" which is oil/filter tire rotation, and general check up on brakes etc... Nothing you can't get done at a local oil change place or what you can't do yourself. At the bottom of the MID you will see an option that allows you to reset the warning. Press the "I" button until reset is selected and then hit the "sel/reset" button and all gone. Remember you have 15% oil life left according to the MID, so get your oil changed within the next 1000 miles.

If this is your first oil change since you took delivery use standard oil, same with the second oil change then you can switch to full synthetic or a blend if you choose.

Hope that answers your question

Ah, you didn't say that in your original post. It sounded like you just wanted to turn the light off.

Sarcasm aside, your owner's manual contains the complete instructions for resetting the indicator.

Also, your owner's manual specifically told you not to change the oil early, either.

you really do not have to change the oil every 3,000 miles anymore. wait until the oil life gets to about 10% which is approx. 5,000 miles. just a suggestion.

No, you're a fucktard for asking a question that was probably covered in that book they gave you when you purchased the car. Probably in the same section where it explains how the light works it would have shown how to clear the light.

Then again that would have required either a search on this board or a long walk to the gararge.
