Seatbelt "reminder" disable?

Another big reason was that the auto-seatbelts were two separate parts that needed to work in tandem to work properly: the shoulder auto-belt and the manual lap belt. Too many people thought that since it was an automatic belt, they didn't need (or were too lazy to use) the lap-belt part. This is as dangerous, if not more, than no seatbelt at all; since in a collision, the occupant's hips will continue forward and they will slide under (and possibly get choked by the shoulder belt). These things ended up creating a backlash against the auto-seatbelts.
Sure, they may have been annoying, but they were annoying because they were badly designed and poorly implemented.
