Rock chips look ugly

hey guys, I have a 2005 Acura TSX that I've had for a few years. I was wondering if there's a way to get the rock chips off my front bumper? They are deep in there so it's heavily damaged even have some rust if you look at it closely. I know buying A new bumper would be easy but I'm looking for cheaper ways to make it look decent. Also the paint is coming off it's sad 😞 . I love my car so much, it drives well and never had problems with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The forum where you originally posted, the AcuraZine User Help, Support & Suggestions Area , is meant for problems, comments, and suggestions for the website itself, so I moved your thread to the car specific forum applicable to your vehicle.

This was explained in the sticky thread at the top of that forum, or click here if you can't find it, which will explain why you shouldn't have posted your thread there.

Wow.. your car is in dire need of some TLC.. The bumper can always be re-finished/repainted.. the clearcoat failure on the back is due to not waxing and protecting the car's paint properly.

Anyway I could fix these problems? Obv a new paint job would do but that's over 1k. As far as the rock chips on the bumper,it would be cool to find a paint that matches it and just cover up the imperfections

Dealer sells touch up paint in your color.

How do you plan on fixing clear coat being gone like that without re-clearing?

a good body shop should be able to refinish the bumper fairly cheap... as for the clear coat peeling that means the blue paint under is faded as well, only option is to block it down and reshoot the entire thing

I would vinyl wrap the whole car as it would be definitely cheaper than a paint job

wouldnt wrapping the car be bad since the clear coat and all needs to be on the same level first?

Help

I've decided that I'll try painting the car myself with spray cans. My plan is to buff it down with 400 grit sandpaper on the places where clear coat is peeling. Then use scotch brite on the outer edges so the paint could stick. After that, I'm going to put 2K primer and the base coat which is matched from a paint dealer. Then topcoat.. you guys think it would work out? I really need this peeling thing off, I wanna ride this car til it dies but also I want to look great driving. Feels like people are giving me the "ew" looks when they see me.. I've never thought of wrapping.. I'd love to change the color of my car to black

I've used Macco twice on older Honda chips, fade, and clear coat issues. I found they do very good work if you want to fix up an older car. They sometimes have 1/2 specials for paint jobs with a 2 year guarantee. I would also check with local body shops for estimates because they might be able to do the work at a reasonable price.

Shops around me were asking atleast 1700 to fix the paint.. I think that's hella pricey
