Ringing noise

In the car when I am about 2000-3000 rpm I hear a faint ringing noise coming from the front of my car. Is this suppose to be normal? It's a high pitch noise. It's like draging metal chains on the floor but really low.

Same noise here....05 5AT. To be more descriptive, I hear it when letting off the gas after hard acceleration. I've read its normal, but if you find anything out, please share.

my accord with auto trans. has a similar sound at around that rpm. I always just assumed that there was something resonating when the engine hits the same rpm (ie: engine vibration is shaking something that resonates at that frequency)

My 04 TSX started doing this shortly after I bought it. You described it exactly. I took it to a few dealers, and they claimed to have never been told about it, or that they could hear it on test drives. Finally after several visits the Boston dealer, where I bought the car, admitted that this was a known issue in the gear box. It is not a defect, but cannot be corrected. I was told that I would have to live with it.

I really like(d) my 04 TSX. It was totaled in an accident a few weeks ago, and this Friday I'm picking up a 06 model to replace it. I'm hopeful (but not too much so) that this problem has been corrected, or at least improved.

Thanks for the info. Its good to know that its normal and there is nothing wrong.

Let us know if the issue still exists in the 06, I would assume it does.

I've heard this sound on many japanese-built auto vehicles. I think it's a characteristic of the gearbox. Who is the manufacturer of the auto gearbox in the TSX? Is it Honda itself or maybe Nissin?
