reset TSX nagivation software

hi all:

I have a 04 TSX with Navi. Recently I bought a new Navi disc and used it once. It updated the system software. However, since the new version didn't have substantial better map coverage than the old one, I returned the DVD and went back to use the old disc. Now comes the problem. It appears that due to the software update, my old DVD is not longer working right. For example, I cannot see any more road names on the navi and everything becomes "Unnamed Road" and it's quite annoying. I called a local acura dealer and they said that they could reset the system back to the original version for 40 dollars. Before I fork over the 40 bucks, I want to know if this is something that I can do relatively easily?

Thanks!

When I did my startup image mod, I had to go into an advanced diagnostic screen, not sure if there is any kind of factory reset in there,

To get into it, I think you had to hold town the "MAP/GUIDE", "MENU" and "CANCEL" buttons at the same time for a few seconds. I wouldn't go changing stuff around in there, the only thing I did was hit update new version or something, when I had to download new .bin files that I modified, to the nav system permanent flash memory. If you don't know what you are doing you could probably do some damage.

Did you try just unplugging the battery? Of course make sure you have the nav unlock code...

thanks ak. I tried unplug the battery but that didn't work and I will look into the advanced diagnostics screen. This is good to know.

Thanks ak. This worked. I went to the advanced diagnostic screen like you said, then went to "Version". The screen indicated that the current version is 1.4 and disc version is 1.03 or something to that effect. Then I hit the button "Disc Load" and the system reloaded version 1.03 from the DVD and things went back to the original state. Thanks much. This saved me not only 40 bucks but also the time and hassle having to deal with the dealers.
