Replacing Front Struts on 2007 TSX

Need to replace front struts on my niece's 2007 TSX 2.4L with 96k miles. Struts seem ok to me but would not pass PA state inspection because Tech said they were leaking oil. I do not believe they are leaking oil but the Tech gets the last word.

I ordered KYB replacement struts from Rockauto. I have had very good experience with KYB's on my cars (Toyota and Lexus).

In looking at the TSX, strut replacement looks straightforward except the bottom of the strut fits into a cast iron yoke and it looks like it might be a bear to separate the strut from the yoke. Any pictures or tips on how to do this job? I would really appreciate it.

Finally, the Tech said I would absolutely need a 4 wheel alignment after replacing front struts. I never got alignments when I replaced struts on my cars and I never had a problem with tire wear or driveability. Does anyone know if the TSX requires a 4 wheel alignment after replacing front struts? Thanks!

There should be a DIY here somewhere, but with the dismal search feature we have, good luck finding it. You could try searching on Aspec installation. Also, try youtube; that's where I find most of my tips and video DIY ideas. I think regular alignments are a good idea, and certainly after any suspension work, but.... to each their own.

If you have basic skills it wont be a problem, I swapped all four of mine (06 TSX) to the Aspec version, only issues were on the rear...Front will be easy...I pre-lubed all bolts/yoke with WD40...Good luck

You need a alignment after changing the struts. You cannot visualize the alignment base on the steering wheel without putting the car up a alignment rack and getting the reading.

I presume you are changing the struts your self? Remember to rent a spring compressor, will make your life a lot easier.

Good choice with the KYB.

I have two different styles of compressors. I usually use both for an extra margin of safety.

You don't need an aligment after changing the front shocks on a TSX. They're not MacPherson struts, so the shocks have no effect upon the steering geometry (see the attached image from the factory manual).
