The rear right camber problem... questions.

So my car has the rear-right camber out-of-spec issue. It's not on any kind of extended warranty. I have 2 questions:

1. How much would it cost, approximately, to have it fixed out of warranty (replace the upper control arm)?
2. Is it possible to fix using only an aftermarket camber kit, or would this cause problems in the long term?

As it is I'm not too worried, it's at -1.8 degrees camber. However, when I get around to adding a lower suspension it will be a much bigger problem, so I'd like to know what I'm going to need to do to get it corrected.

Have the same problem as you on my 04 TSX, my warranty is way out and my right rear camber is out of spec. Let me know if you can find the part#:
P/N 52390-SEA-013 Rear Upper Control Arm because my local Acura dealers do not have it, it doesn't even show up in the system.

Part can be found here for $60 + $12 estimated shipping. I'm assuming that's the right part, it doesn't give any part #, but it's listed as rear suspension upper control arm. I mainly wonder how much labor would go into installing it (if it'd be easy to DIY, cost to get a shop to do it, etc.), and also my second question still stands.

That degree is low in difference so you can easily fix it with an aftermarket camber kit like Ingalls or Wicked. Both are really easy to install IMO. I have Wicked and am waiting for my coilovers before I install them, but I've seen diff DIY's and instructions and it's fairly easy if you have a little know how.

I know I could correct it with a camber kit, my only concern is, does this defect cause wear issues or something of the like in the long-term? If it doesn't then yeah, I'll just throw a camber kit on when I get a new suspension and be done with it.

It wore my 2 rear tires on the inside almost bald , so you have to keep on checking. But sooner then later is better.

Sorry, I accidently copied and pasted the wrong part number. That is the defective part, the correct part# according to the TSB 06-007 is:

Arm, Right Rear Upper: P/N 52390-SEC-305

It won't wear down your tires as bad as toe would but will eventually wear down faster than if it was normal. If you don't drive a lot and long distances then you can wait and do it all with a new suspension. There is no point to pay to have the alignment done at this point if you will be continually off by that amount. Just save the money and install your suspension and camber kit (if you get one) at the same time and then have all 4 wheels aligned properly and you should be all set.

Ok, found the part for $85, went down to the Acura dealership with the TSB print out and they found it. I'm actually waiting for it to get installed now at a local auto repair shop, 1 hour labor, $95. The Acura dealer quoted 1.5 hours labor at $175 a hour ... no thanks

Headling to get two near tires and a alignment tomorrow ... what a waste of money.

i bought the updated control arm and it looks like the same as the original arm, i was thinking it might have been a lil longer but its the same length. I found that the 03 TL type S rear upper arms are about a half inch longer, but i havent installed yet to see what its gonna do.

Did you buy the UPDATED control arm? Part# 52390-SEC-305

I didn't get a chance to compare the two control arms but the shop who installed it said one was longer than the other. I didn't ask him which one though but it was installed since the new part was shinny black and the old one was faded like crap when I peaked behind the wheels. I actually havn't gotten around to do my alignment but I'll update when I do.

yes that was the exact part number that i ordered i put it next to my original arm and it was the exact same length so i didnt even install it cause i didnt see how it was gonna fix the problem, cause both of my rear tires are wearing down on the inside.

If you bought the car used then I suspect the previous owner "may" have replaced that rear control arm if your car falls under the vin on the TSB. If both of your rear tires are wearing from the inside than this part will not fix your problem, it only addresses the right side. I never got a chance to look at the two control arms but the shop that replaced it for me told me one was longer than the other ... just got to take their word on this one.

I knew the right rear control arm on my car wasn't replace because only the right rear tire had excessive camber wear ... tire was pretty much useless by the time I noticed it. The rear left tire looked fine but I replaced both tires as a precaution, don't like driving on tires with mix match thread depth.

Thanks. Looks like I can't have the same problem as this issue only applies to 04 and 05 tsx's. I have an '06.

i really think both of my upper control arms are bad cause every other peice on the rear suspension is good. i kno the right rear is worse because the tires is worn more than the left but left is also showing signs of wear. not sure if previous owner replaced or not but im thinking that they didnt replace.

Sounds to me like the previous owner never rotated the tires.
