rear bumper got hit....
My TSX is only 4 months old and was hit two days ago on the road...
I was stopped at a traffic light when all of a sudden I felt an impact from the back, the driver behind me had hit me.
As soon as I got off the car the old woman shouted out, "OK so my foot slipped. But look! No damage to your car!" and rolled up her window.
I inspected my car and saw a dent on the bumper...although minor, i was heartbroken....
I tried to talk to her but she got all annoyed and call me crazy...
I did quickly write down her license plate number before she drove away. (She actually saw me doing that and said, "Write down whatever you want. You can't do anything with it")
I've never been in an accident before, so I moved the car to a nearby parking lot and called the police.
The cop came after I waited for 1.5 hours....(was I stupid to have waited this long?)
He looked at my car and said the dent is almost unnoticable and thus no damage was done and therefore no accident happened.
He told me that in Dallas this happens all the time and just have to live with it.
So that was it. Couldn't do anything about it.
It ruined my day.... and I'm still not over it.
It's so frustrating to have something like this happen. Sometimes being careful yourself doesn't prevent accidents....If only she could be a little more responsible for what she did.
I'm not sure if I had dealt with the whole situation right. Was there something I could have done?
Thanks for reading guys.

that's more than ridiculous.
the lady commited a crime.
the cop needs to be put on suspension.
you need to call the police department and Demand to speak with
someone of authority/responsibility there.
did you take the cops badge number, or car number?
I hope so.
he can't make that call for you, that's 100% bullshit.
I would be so infuriated, it wouldn't even be funny.
no way I would have let that cop leave, I probably would have ended up
in jail for telling him exactly what he needs to hear: He needs to do his job.
call your insurance company and inform them.
give them the lady's plate number, the accident info, the cops name and number, etc.
do NOT give up on this, you need to get it taken care of.
the LEGAL and PROPER way.
what you went through in no way is okay, and in no way should you allow it
to go any further than you have. Stand up for yourself a bit more.

Whoa, the EXACT, and I mean exact same thing right down to the last detail happened to me, I was hit at a red light from behind from some old lady in a Merc, she told me I was over reacting but I still insisted in taking down her full information and address, its lucky I did because at the time no damage was visible, however under halogen lighting inspection, I noticed an indent and my side panels (rear quarter, door) all shifted out of place…so it seemed like nothing was their however extensive damage was done,
As mentioned by Rex, I decided to leave the indent in the rear bumper since it’s a pain to re-spray and the color won’t come out the same so I live with it.

I totally understand how you feel and I am on your side, because we love our cars. Those people who don't care about little dents or think that the bumper is built to be hit, they live in a different world from us.
Last night I was home with a friend and he accidently knocked down my bike. It touched my PWP TSX and gave it a tiny scratch. (Mine is 3 weeks old) I was very mad I almost cried and all he said was "It's ok it's not even noticible" and thought I was over reacting.
You did it perfectly right, but having a tiny scratch on our cars is just like the old lady having her gold tooth lost or the police losing his gun. Well, hope you feel better.
