read ECU code without special equipment

Is there a way to read the ECU code for a TSX without any special equipment? Thanks.

What do you mean by ECU code? I'm lost. If you're referring to check engine lights, that's another story. In order to acquire the fault code that throws that light, you have to have at least a PGM tester. You can get cheapo generic readers for about $200, but Honda specific readers that you see at the dealership run about $2000. They also have the HDS tablet (just like a bare bones tablet PC) for diagnostics of all sorts that runs about $4000.

Back to the basics. To pull a fault code, it isn't hard, you just have to know how to use a PGM tester, know what the code really means (which involves a bit of technical knowledge when it comes to cars), and how to rectify it before you can reset the code.

I remember on my '98 accord, you could go to the data port and jumper a couple pins using a paper clip (one end went into pin hole 3 and the other when into 13 or something) and then when you turned the car on, teh check engine light flashed out the code that could then be checked in the haynes service book.

not sure if something like that would work on the tsx.

Computer Codes

On my 97 Sebring, I can turn the key on and off five times and then count the number of times the check engine light flashs to get the code.

You could do it to a RSX by using this method. But I'd rather use a scantool.
