Rattle Solutions

I have not purchased my tsx yet, but I am concerned about the number of rattling complaints I have been reading about online on various forums.

From what I have read it appears that the rattling comes from two areas:

1. front doors (causing noticeable distortion of front speaker sound)

From what I hear some dealers have attempted to fix the front door rattle by adding insulation around the speaker mounts. Has anyone gone through this process and if so what was the result?

2. rear window or rear view mirror (people dont seem sure which is cause in this case)

I have heard that the mount for the reaver view mirror is poor which causes vibration when your system is playing at volume. I have not heard of any fixes for this yet.

At this point I am almost inclined to ask that the dealership I end up with adds insulation to the speaker mounts in the front doors prior to my purchase, but only if it appears to be a proven fix. Any comments, ideas?

I still havent read one post where someone has had a dealer succefully fix the rattles. Tapping the windows down slightly is the only thing that seems to work. I think Honda is working on a fix, and we should see it soon.

If I were you I would not go riping open the doors and insulating right away. You may get lucky and have no rattles. Get the car..put your 600 miles on it and see if any rattles develop. Hopefully there will be none.

music only?

Are the rattles ONLY when playing music???

If so then that wouldn't really bother me all that much, what bothers me the most is rattles when driving and hitting bumps. Those are annoying!!!

So anyone have regular rattles?

I just purchased and RX-8 and have 1 rattle. It's annoying as all H**L I haven't had them look at it yet, but I'm still thinking about the buyback.

My car has developed a rattle at about 1000 miles and I can hear it with the radio OFF. When driving slow or over bumps it isn't there but I have noticed that it is definitely there at speed. Seems the faster you go the worse it gets. It must be some aerodynamic issue or some air getting into the door itself making something flutter. I can pound the door or the panel and not get any noise. Something is amiss....

I had the rattles in the front doors where the speakers were. I went to the dealer and they replaced both front door panels with ones that had better insulation. The dealer told me that Acura is aware of the problem and has given the technicians a variety of ways to try and fix the problem with replacing the door panels being the last. No rattles anymore!!!

This is the first claim I've seen that the dealer has solved somebody's rattle problem. Let's hope it's not the last one.
